I think the key to success for Kuyt is getting the right partner alongside him.
If we finally get that elusive goalscorer next season then with Kuyt as the second striker i think we might see what he's all about.
Now I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but he did score a lot of goals for Feyenoord in what... 2 seasons? 100 goals in 2 or 3 seasons isn't bad mind you.

I believe in his ability to score goals, but I also believe that he has instructions from Rafa to play the way he does (holding the ball, passing back etc.).

I think he's not showing his full potential cause of Rafa's tactical plan.

      Bellers was immense yesterday!
Bellamy was excellent yesterday. Vidic was terrified of him.

I think Dirk was trying to hang back in space and give Bellamy a better option yesterday. Instead Bellamy perhaps thought that Kuyt was making a run into the middle and passed there. They got their wires crossed, it happens. It doesn't make Kuyt a bad player though.

Yes, I've been thinking the same.
        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

He did indeed but IMO the dutch league is incomparable compared to ours in terms of speed of thought, movement and all round general play.
Im not knocking his record at all over there, just that i dont see him having a comparable record here in 2 or 3 seasons time.

Yes, but from time to time, I think Rafa's tactics are too defensive.

He looks short of confidence at the minute. His first touch in recent matches has been awful and he has missed decent chances. I am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as its his first season. How well he does next year will depend a lot on who Rafa signs this summer. A couple of decent wide players could make the difference.

                  Do you mean Andy Gray?

I've been saying this for weeks and months.

He's a good Premiership player, but as a first choice striker for a side that wants to win the league, he's not good enough.

10 goals in 30-odd games this season. Poor.

He's still our top goalscorer in the league. If he gets to 15 this season with the lack of chances being created from wide area in our team (and lack of a top striker alongside him) he'll have done extremely well in his 1st season for us. Out of the 4 strikers we currently have, Kuyt's the only one I'd keep for next season.

You could say that about any of our strikers. Kuyt's scored 9 league goals in 28-29 league games. Not great I grant you, but a damn sight better than Crouch & Bellamy.

The thing about Momo is that is passing has NEVER been great. If he wants to become world class it has improve dramtically along with his shooting.
Wasnt he brought to Valencia as a striker?
