If this goes ahead then it will cost an absolute fortune lets hope we can sustain it.
Let's see what they have in mind. Maybe they've come up with a creative solution which has less impact than we are speculating.

Suppose you want to build a new house, and have managed to get hold of a nice plot of land - you want to build a big house, for your big family and manage to get plans to build a nice 3 bed roomed house. Just about as you are to start work on the building you suddenly get a large wind fall of cash, and a long lost cousin turns up with a fantastic knowledge of building houses. What do you do? Stick with the 3 bed house that was all that you could have afforded previously - or try for the spectacular 5 bed house, with conservatory?

what it shows is that Moores and Parry have set their sights low, and know little about selling LFC as a brand, stadium naming rights could have taken a significant chunk out of the origional cost, as would other features.
Maybe its just me, but as soon as I heard that we had reduced the capacity to allow GH more money to spend on players, I thought it was a huge mistake, I said as much at the time, we were scarificing the future bank balances of the club indefinitely by giving ONE manager more money to spend.
I just think that a club of Liverpools standings as one of the best clubs in the world should have a stadium that mirrors that view. Not a 60,000 seater copy of another stadium so we can buy another Diao.

'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Im not getting pessimistic, as someone has mentioned, there would have been no takeover if we were not seen as a good investment, financially, that can also be said of increasing the capacity of the new stadium. I seriously doubt they would do it if financially it didnt make sense.

They will probably use the new stadium to other things than just football games.

That means if they are planning to do that, that they will earn money from concerts for example.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Thanks for all the nice words, guys - apart from Kaip who wouldn't give a door a bang...

I'm still trying to find out some more information from my mate the architect but he's gone into hiding! Hopefully my "Interesting news..." thread hasn't caused him any problems as unfortunately I did name his ex-boss at AFL...

Mismanaged from the very beginning mate. I remember this new stadium was mooted back in 2000. I remember hearing about it on the radio every day for a couple of weeks when I was working in Harrods, around the same time when England were in the running to host the 2006 World Cup. 7 years later and what have Parry and Moores actually accomplished? The Emirates and Wembley have been completed, the World Cup has been and gone, and not a single brick has been laid building our stadium.

What I dont understand is that they wanted to waste £100m building a new stadium, with a capacity only 10k more than our current one, with no option to increase the capacity at a later stage and with a stadium design that is so generic, uninspiring, and by the looks of it would do nothing to retain any of the atmosphere created by the crowd. A fair enough assessment?

I have to say I am much less bothered about the capacity as I am about the design, as long as the stadium and capcity is expandable in the future and subject to the minimum capacity being around 65k. What worries me is not just the blandness of it, but the fact that it is bowl shaped and seems like a copy of the Emirates, which according to Arsenal fans I know creates a poort atmosphere. What we need is a a single tier Kop which is markedly distinguishable from the other stands of the ground if we are expecting this to create atmosphere. We need fans closer to the pitch and being on top of the players and the noise to be trapped in like a vacuum, in the way it isn't at the Emirates.

                    who says?

they have put their sons on the board. they have talked about a generational family concern. they might look at a 18 month-2 year delay against the revenue generated by an extra 20,000 people for 3-4 games a month (and concerts if they go that way) for the next 20 years and decide that its a delay worth making in the long run

i don't think you can be as definitive as that

although getting too close to the pitch might be a problem.

The pitch needs to be away from the stands in order to attract UEFA 5 star matches and internationals. With the country making a future bid for the World Cup it would be unwise not to enable ourselves to profit from it.

Anyone know just how far away we have to be to meet these regulations?.

We have a waiting list of over 50,000 season ticket holders according to our new owners. As soon as they come in, first thing on the agenda is raise the capacity.
So you think Moores and Parry had nothing to do with getting Hicks and Co on board then?
