You are ignoring the fact that the council told us, at one stage, that we would never be able to increase the capacity. It was a categorical no. To pursue an appeal at that particular stage would have meant missing a deadline which guaranteed grants.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostThats not what im getting at though.
Ok fair enough, they may well not be sitting there with red faces at a board meeting, fair enough.
But they sold the club thinking that the proposed development of the new stadium, as it is, was going to happen. not as an alleged 80,000 seater stadium, if you believe the rumours.
IT just seems that the new owners had more ambition and are more willing to maximise the potential of a new stadium that will be more fitting to a club of LFC's standing in world football.
What im really refering to is the way Parry and Moores were willing to drop to 60,000 just to give GH more spending power.
There are very often reasons for things you know. You just seem to ignore these reasons so you can have a go and Moores and Parry.I live with Steptoe.

I think we'll be in the new stadium in 4/5 years time, when you consider all the implications this is going to have in terms of design, finance, planning permission, the council, etcOriginally posted by DeeGame View Post7 years as the last match was in 2000.
A 'six month delay' is ridiculously optimistic.

Im not trying to start a witch hunt against Moores and Parry, I quite like them.
I just think that the origional planning application of 60,000 should have been a higher capacity.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

So did M and P - but as I said - the council wouldn't allow it. Your grievance should be with the council.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostNot at all Sara.

ah well, heres hoping eh
That said id still be happy even if it was 7 years from now we started in the new satdium, provided that of course the new and improved plans incorporate a better design and increased capacity with a potential increase at a later date.
Lets be fair it seems that nearly all of us were unhappy with some parts of the current plans, best to get it sorted now before we spend loads of cash eh?!
Quite impressed with the americans so far........

Also, the reason we know of not to go above 60,000 is because of infrastructure links and the design within the planning application that was lodged, also the design of the roof of the new stadium restricting the ability to expand the new Anfield.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

I dont have a grievance Sara. All im saying is, if i was chief exec, and was sitting with them at a meeting and they unveiled that the stadium that we have planning for is not good enough for a club of LFC's stature, I would be embarrased.Originally posted by Mumsafan View PostYour grievance should be with the council.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:

We can dream designs again now can't we? Here's mine - With 80,000 we could have a 25,000 single tier kop and then a continuous double tier stand of 55,000 wrapped round the edge of the pitch (horse shoe style) from one side of the kop to the other - a steep continuous stand hugging close to the pitch in the style of Boca Juniors La Bombonera with the stands feeling as if they're 'over the pitch' - It would frighten the living daylights out of me let alone the opposition.

Now this is where I think the existing design was wrong. I think that the starting point for any Nou Anfield should have been the new Kop. Basically it should be designed as the largest single tier stand in the world and then the rest of the stadium should have been designed around it.Originally posted by Marshy View PostWe can dream designs again now can't we? It would've produced one of the most spectactular and unique stadiums in the world.
No! I am NOT in denial!

Two side stands, **** load of hospitality, media etc very expensive seats..£40-50. Milk the suits for all they're worth.
One massive single tier Kop stand, let's make it the biggest in European club football, bigger than Dortmund's..so 20,000. Keep seats cheap-ish £30-£35, sell at least 5,000 of those seats at the ticket office window, get the locals back in the ground. Get the 'singers' together.

I think thats something we would all agree on, we need to keep the identity of the club, the kop was one of the things we were famous for, it would be a shame to let it slip.Originally posted by anfieldanfield View PostIf I was in charge...

I know what you mean Bazza.
Gillett and Hicks have just dropped Parry and Moores plans for the new stadium because the plans wasn't good enough for a club like Liverpool FC. They want us to be the best and not second best.
We should aim to be the best club in the world and Gillett and Hicks clearly thinks that 60k isn't enough to get us to the top.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
