I've worked with some f*ckin awful managers in my working life. Some of the very worst still did well because they always had a right hand man who was bloody awesome. In fact 1 of them was as incompetent a manager as David Brent, but his second in command was a top bloke, really fantastic and he basically did all the work.

    Was Paco that man?

We didn't have a player to play the ball our of defence today, with Stevie having to do that job and Momo having a stinker. That has been our downfall as our passing game didn't materialise at all. We couldn't make two passes all game and didn't create anything until the last 15 mins.

Marseille were the better team, that is all. We couldn't match them. It's worrying.

What disappointed me was that Rafa chose to stick with SG and Sissoko in the second half even though it was evident it wasn't working after the first 20 minutes of the match.

Having Sissoko beside him completely negates SG's attacking abilities, and he often finds himself sitting back having to cover the scraps.

Mascherano should have come on at half time.

But after the international break we have been average to poor.

The passing tonight was just dreadful.

And we didn't pressure them high up the pitch. Why?

                    And tonight everyone played ****e.

Just one of those nights, still think we'll beat Besitkas twice and Porto to qualify.
It is Niall. In the last 6 we have won 2 drawn 3 and lost 1. We have gone from top to 4th and struggling in the CL. You say one of those nights but we haven't played well for weeks. The Reading game was just kamakaze football. When we play teams that know how to defend we are stumped. The International break was weeks ago. It doesn't seem to have bothered Arsenal. Why are we still harking back to it? I see loads of excuses but none of them can explain our tactics.

                      Few questions:

-Why was Mascherano dropped to the bench tonight? He should start ALL important games.

-Why is it we never seem to find red shirt from defensive headers?

David Brent's second in command was Gareth.

                          That is spot on.

Bloody Rafa with his defence 1st attitude, never going to win the Premiership like that.

Grusome performance. Momo dreadful. Leto anonymous. Badly missing alonso.
We also missed kuyt's industry upfront.

Marseille - revelation deserved the result.

Let's take it out on sputs at the weekend.

                              m.o.t.m for Liverpool - 1. Reina 2. Gerrard 3.???

Very poor tonight, I hate to say it but Andy Gray called it right. Not enough pressing high up the pitch, not enough enery, too many player didn't turn up. Sissoko was very poor losing the ball far too much, as was Leto first half. I think Rafa got his tactics wrong, we should have played Masher and got Babel on to offer some goal threat as we were struggling to break them down.

Fair play to Marseille, they played very well. Looks like Zenden gave the new manager a lot of inside info and they also got a lot of time to plan the way they wanted to set up.

Well I'm gonna finish my vino and go to bed and try to forget about this game.
