So? Ive got pictures of my kids. Many people have had their pics taken with the European Cup etc when we won it and have them pics in their house. Does that make them an ego-maniac? Ever think he was just proud of his achievements?

FWIW I never liked Houllier the Manager because of the dire 'football' (if you can call it that) we were playing. But his love for Liverpool is unquestionable, and as a man I have the utmost respect for him.

Exactly - YOUR kids. It wasn't HIS club, HIS players or HIS trophies, despite what he obviously thought. Hence the egomaniac label.

You know it would be interesting if there was a poll for the worst manager - I would be fascinated to see how Houlier and Souness compare.

So if Steven Gerrard has a pic of him holding the European Cup that makes him an egomaniac?

Difficult to compare the 2. Souness inherited an ageing squad and was expected to make them perform to previous dizzy heights. I have no idea what he spent or how relevant that was at the time - ie were liverpool big spenders back then?
Houllier won more but due to his spending, was it worth it?
The thing to remember about this thread is that it's about your "favourite" manager, not the best manager. That said, the french guy would still get my vote as worst manager just because!

Steven Gerrard wouldn't claim that HE won the cup though, he'd acknlowedge that the team effort was important. When the french bloke was in charge, if we won a game he would talk about HIS tactics and selections - if we lost, then it was about players not performing. Rarely would he take the blame or give credit where it was due.

The same Steven Gerrard who has glass doors of himself lifting the trophy but had the rest of his team taken out of the photo so its just him?

there's a big difference between confidence and arrogance.

I think some of houlliers decisions hinted at arrogance etc... whereas rafa would put the team first a bit more.

I say fair play to stevie, he puts the work in and can remember things/ motivate himself how he likes. Whatever works for him.

I voted kenny by the way, dont know much about the others before that other than what i have read/seen on TV etc..

Personally i would have voted for myself if given the choice.........()
