im not supporting houllier here, as thought he ****ed things the last few years.

But pride normally comes after a lot of hard work and success, right?

        In general terms, that is.

So it's wrong to be proud of your achievements now then? Jeez, there will be a lot of people 'falling', then!

Bob Paisley for me without question. I was only 3 when Shanks left so Sir Bob was the first Liverpool manager I ever associated with. He won the lot and some (ok, I know he never won the FA Cup but we'll ignore that minor point).

Forget about the Frenchman you met and how nicer bloke he was, up to the treble season he did well (playing 'winning' football). After his illness he was not the same and maybe he himself thought that the treble will be his immunity.

He bought badly, paid a lot of money for poor footballers, his brand of football was not very exciting too (hoof to Heskey, knock-down for Owen, Owen to score the goals) and lets not forget he got a sweet deal for leaving too.

But the Merits and flaws of Houllier is another thread (go on Carheex, you know you want to start one), this is Your favourite manger thread.

btw please please please someone vote Fagan.
              We come not to play.

No one says it's wrong (apart from the Bible), but in a results-driven industry living on former glories is not going to get you far.

The old Liverpool teams were successful year-after-year because there was no fanfare about winning trophies - they handed out the medals, had a drink to celebrate and then focused on the next challenge.

Houllier on the other hand let his standards drop.

I voted for Kenny cos I didn't read the thread properly!

He was my favourite, cos I grew up watching him play and then manage

Shanks was way before my time so I didn't vote for him cos of the lack of first hand experience

Had I read the thread, I would've gone for Shanks tho

Fagan would be up there too, he was in charge for my very first game at Anfield!
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

                    1) I've never seen those doors so I'm not sure of it's existence
                    2) Gerrard was at the club before frenchy, has won more than frenchy and is still at the club going strong - you should be supporting him!
                    3) why are you comparing a current footballer to an ex-manager???

                        3) Youre the one using him for comparing mate, Im just highlighting what a bollocks comparison it was.

Not at all - try reading the thread. Red Hot is using gerrard as a comparison whilst discussing managers for some reason, so you're actually criticising her "bollocks comparison", not mine. Don't let facts cloud your biased favouritism though!

Melwood and the academy was Houlliers idea.

                                He found Owen and Gerrard.

Two of the wrong facts that Houllier pointed out time and time again.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
