What about the history of the game? Of course it's not LFC's responsibility to give Luton handouts, but I'm very surprised by this news.
There should be money from Sky filtering down the leagues, it's a joke the amount of money in the premiership
Chilli - That's because the top 2 leagues are run by the FA and the bottom 2 byt The Football league. This is what happened when the Prem split off in 1992. they are completely different bodies & the FA want the money to stay with them. But I agree there should be some sort of emergency fund set up by all Legaue Clubs. But clubs which are run badly shouldn't necessarily be bailed out by the others - after all these are businesses and it's a free market economy.
OK, so we gnore the plight of lower league clubs, we continue to pump billions into the pre, iership, buy up all the good foreign talent so we can keep more of those billions and english talent is over-priced.

Time to get nasty on and of the pitch. We'd get a lot more respect than we do now.

One question, are we talking about 100.000 pounds? OK maybe not a lot of money for Liverpool but what will it do for Luton if they are losing 400.000 a month? I think it would be money out the window so to speak - they'll still go under I'd think - they need more not a small time one off.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Mate, NO. The lower legues are needed. I do agree though that we have helped clubs in the past, we have done more for Wrexham than any other club but that is forgotten when the press want to do an artice like this. I don't think the club should be forced to help another club either but your point is well over the top.Originally posted by Jesus View PostYou know what, **** the lower leagues and **** the media. If it was Man Utd asking would we help out?Originally posted by FoxForceFive View PostWe'll have to beg to differ on this, I believe in being 'the better person' in situations, just cos someone has letyou down you dont tar everyone with the same brush. I also always believe that as LFC we are better than all other clubs, in attitude as well as in everything else.
Perhaps those days are well & truly over, perhaps I'm just deluded, but I like it that way.

If they were a lower league club I would take great delight in slipping them 100 grand to prolong their misery a bit longerOriginally posted by James View PostIf it was Man Utd asking would we help out?

I actually think the lower echelons of English football should be re-vamped in a similar way to Rafa. If you want the national team to progress (I personally couldn't care less), then more young English players need to be playing more regularly in a competitive league (rather than a limited Ressies competition). I would allow each of the larger clubs to have their Reserve team compete from the bottom of the 4th Division (League 2 or whaever it is now) or the Conference. This way players / and clubs would progress on the basis of ability, which would in turn increase the standard of young English players coming trough the ranks in the top English sides. Promotion wto the Premiership would not be allowed, neither could they be drawn against their parent club in Cup competitions. This is the only way forward now, as you will never now be able to limit the number of foreigners playing in the Premiership.
I'm all for football clubs helping eachother, what I'm not for is poor management being bailed out again and again.
With reagrds to the FA Cup with the advent of the Chapions League qualification system it's sad to say but it's already been relegated to an also-rans trophy with no real reward for winning it other than the glory on the day.

Why does it have to be a choice between doing nothing for smaller clubs or giving Luton £100,000?Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostOK, so we gnore the plight of lower league clubs, we continue to pump billions into the pre, iership, buy up all the good foreign talent so we can keep more of those billions and english talent is over-priced.

Yep, there's a chance if we gave them £100,000 it would largely go to pay off creditors and Luton still go to the wall but with RBS or some bank having recouped a bit more money.Like blood on iron
