they would have to borrow money to cover the £250m they would need to bulld the stadium.Originally posted by MattB View PostToo true that
One thing that struck me is that there is no way on earth that £500m is enough to buy the club and build a stadium. Wonder if they have heavyweight partners/investors on board, or at least someone with access to cheap credit
but this would be offset by - increased turnover from the stadium, naming rights, better sponsorship all round...
Its definitely do-able. Lets see what these guys have to say at 5.00pm before we get our hopes up.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

Its not the same but similar, Exeter city football club which was badly run was taken over by the fans. They created a supporters trust with a 51% ownership of the club, There is over 3,000 members who can vote on all the major issues and all we do is put in as little as £24 a year but you can put in as much as you like. We then decide where the money goes. The club basically runs itself with the money from the supporters trust helping with other things like ground improvements, youth team development or any other things the club needs but can't afford. It works really well and yes its nothing like the size of LFC but it does work, I only got involved as we moved to the area and when I'm not at Liverpool i will go a watch a local team.
If the supporters hadn't of done this the club would have gone into liquidation so im all for fan ownership.Last edited by Fagan; 31-01-08, 02:07 PM.

Hmmmmm, not sure about this, but s Iceman says, tyhe least we can do is listen to what they have to say, and Rogan Taylor has always struck me as a pretty sound bloke (dont konw him though). It needs serious thought, and needs to prove it can be better thasn the current set-up, which is not certain, whatever people may think.

any idea when the press conference is? 5k and i'm in. Infact i really don't think they'd struggle.
As for the club costing £500 million i don't think so. I'm sure there's money there for players and starting the stadium. Maybe wishful thinking but G&H would be forced to sell to a fans buyout, especially with say 400 million on the table.
Maybe a pipe dream but at least these guys are not sitting idly by whilst our club is being ****ed.

Matt do you expect the club to be bought and a new stadium built without any debt?

Just posted this elsewhere:
Now I realise that I'm only speaking for myself, but in my 42 years on this planet I've developed a deep bond of attachment to the institution of Liverpool football club. I'd quite happily involve myself financially in this visionary scheme that allows us as fans to express our unconditional love for the club.
People on here talk about what they as individuals will get out of the club, to paraphrase Kennedy, "don't ask the club what it can do for you, ask yourself what you can do for your club."
I've got a lot more out of the club in terms of very significant feelings of community involvement and heightened emotions than 5k can ever pay back.
If this scheme is what I think it is, the returned value of this investment is almost beyond price - it's safeguarding our community and putting in mechanisms that will pay back enormously in terms of personal happiness and emotional well-being. **** season tickets and voting rights.

Just a thought but if 100,000 people invest in the club aren't they going to want something out of it? Your £5k won't even get you a right to buy a season ticket! (As there wouldn't be enough seats - even in a 70k stadium)The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
