I can question potential signings. We don't need squad players. Valencia offers nothing more than Yossi or Pennant, don't need another centre back either

He won't sign a centre back, that's for sure. If he signs one it'll probably be a young player.

As for being 'nothing more' than Pennant or Yossi, well I think that both are excellent players who bring something to the squad.

I don't think it was the exact same thing.............maybe I'm wrong......but then again maybe I'm not. Enough of the bitching anyway.

At the end of the day Harvey, I don't think we need squad players to challenge for the title. 3 or 4 quality signings would be suffice. Personally I think Barry for left back and Bentley instead of Valencia are better links and would be better signings. Bentley could play on the wing and also cover for Gerrard in the role that he plays. I think he's come on tons in the last year or so. Add to that maybe a cover for Torres and/or a right back and we're pretty much there

Barry is not a left back anymore. So if Rafa signs him, it won't be specifically for this position. Doubt it.

My point is I wouldn't play him as a Central Midfielder as I don't think he's better than Mascher or Alonso

Spot on. We do not need more fringe players who will be warming the bench most of the season.

If Rafa is serious about going after this EPL crown the only solution is to buy world class talent who will be first team regulars. I have said it many times but he has to look to sign players of the calibre of Alves, Aguero and Quaresma.

Don't forget last year we were in the hunt for Eto'o and got Torres (thank God!!), so that is the standard we must briing in - because that is what our competitors will be doing. They will all be stronger next season so it is imperative we do not fall behind any further.

I don't see what peoples problem is with Barry.

If he is brought in to replace Xabi (which is looking likely) then he's better than the likes of Carrick in my book and he wont need time to settle in. I would prefer we kept Alonso but he's be a decent replacement.

As for Valencia - I've been impressed by this lad this season and only last week he was linked with United.
