Never said he wasn't a good player. Like Pacman said I don't think he's better than Xabi and Mascher in midfield. He's a good addition for left back and would probably do a good job left midfield too.
Hopefully Babel will play more central next season, so then we could go for a right winger and right back and I think we'd be there. Still would like another striker too.
Personally I'm not keen on Valencia. Last winger we bought off Bruce was Pennant...and he's pantsComment

The thing with Barry is he is a good player, i've said many times before he'd be a good signing however do we really need him? If Xabi goes i rather Lucas play more regular or Plesis or even drop Gerrard more deeper then sign an Aguero type player instead who provides guile and creativity which the one main area we lack, we need a consistent attacking player not a solid midfielder.We come not to play.Comment

balague is rafa's informal media man.
he wouldnt say anything without rafa's approval and they are said to be very very close.
It was balague that first leaked the story of benitez joining liverpool in an interview with benitez on revista de la liga and i remember watching that thinking blimey he's actually coming.
He knows what rafa's plans are so any info from him is genuine. All his information comes directly from rafa and anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
What pissed me off about the podcast was the way he was orgasming over Barry, FFS if we had £15m to spend I would spend it on a proper winger or creative player and not gareth barry to partner masher in the midfield. There are others who can do that like plessis or lucas.
We've signed degen from dortmund who is ok - better than arbeloa, we need creativity first and foremost, the central midfield can wait.

If Ballague is so close to Rafa, why would he inform everyone about our transfer plans for the summer? And if he is doing that, why would Rafa leak his transfer plans to the press? He was pissed off when Hicks leaked it to one man, remember.
Ballague's a journo who happens to be in contact with Rafa sometimes, and I think Rafa's using him to get the attention off what's really been going on. Sure, sometimes he gets something right, but he's not getting things right on a better ratio than what some hack in an internet forum doing guesswork might.Comment

Rafa does it so he can make speculation for Liverpool (create a bit of buzz and make them look busy) and trying to see what sort of reaction he would get from the fans and obviously Guillem would be able to tell him that the fans don't want so and so a player. When Rafa was getting Torres, Balague mentioned it towards the end of the La Liga season last season and the sort of reaction was that he needed to prove himself to play at a big club and the Liverpool fans would rather have Eto'o. I suppose you also have to factor in who would be going the other way in the deal.
If Barry is on the cards, I'd say it was for left back, or left midfield. Not a bad replacement to what we have.Comment
