Fair enoughOriginally posted by The Glove View PostActually we wont. FC United get more through the gate than we will and they are struggling. Groundshares arent cheap and limit your income. Maybe once we get our own ground we'd become a cash cow but until then, we are brassic.
(Just noticed that I accidentally posted this in the Barnes thread

it should be in the general forum.

Marsh it's a tricky one - I see your point, it isn't directly linked with Liverpool Football Club, tho it is linked in some way - i completely agree tho with how the thread has changed directons with the debate going on between the pro's and con's of AFC Liverpool and yada yada yada - the thread is no longer linged with Liverpool Football club.
For what it's worth - here is my take on it all - hopefully quite an unbiased view based on me, being a lifelong liverpool fan and an amatuer footballer in the west cheshire league as well as various sunday leagues in merseyside over the years - so please don't take this as a 'mods' view.
Going back a while ago - probably around the time when the forum first started, I went on a madcap rant, taking the piss going overboard but basically it was theory i had dreamt up. It was before the yanks had taken over here and I was slagging off the state of football and the modern game - It's become money obssessed and is now a business and losing it's identity as a sport.
I went on to say that eventually the bubble will burst and fans will just say **** it - and teams like AFC Wimbledon, FC United etc will start popping up all over the country to a point were we ended up with a Supporters 'Premier' League - were real, honest, proper football was being played and football would become a sport again - as i said it was a random madcap post ( i was probably stoned
) that was well before AFC Liverpool was a glimmer in Alun's eye(i can predict the future
).
But obv I wasn't alone in my thinking - i remember the glove started posting about going to watch marine, southport other non league football and how he was enjoying it much more than going to Anfield - because there was more banter, easily accessable and affordable, and it was an honest game of football, a sport were the lads playing were playing for the love of the game and not the £60'000 a week and page 3 models.
Things have continued to decline(not just LFC but football as as whole) and along comes alun parry who says - dya know what - **** all this bollocks - lets get back to basics and AFC Liverpool was born - the glove immediatley jumped on board due to his new found interest in non-league football but only now he had a team he could identify himself with and really support rather than just turning up to watch a random non-league team.
I think the fact that FC United started up as a knee jerk reaction to Americans taken over, this looked like a similar idea on the face of it so some people tarred AFC liverpool with the same brush. Which is a load of bollocks as Man Utd were quick to condemn the breakaway FC united fans where as Liverpool Football Club have so far been interested and offered support to the idea.
I think the idea of an AFC Liverpool is a good idea, and see no reason for people to take offence as a Liverpool fan - it's not going to effect LFC in anyway and as such has been received in a positive manner by the club - it's quite simply an amatuer football club for Liverpool fans to identify themselves with/support. I can see that and understand it.
To address the arguement that is going on here, ie AFC liverpool nicking players, funding, pr etc - well what a load of ****ing bollocks. As far as i'm aware they haven't openly poached players - gone down Stanley Park or the pitz soccer cages and picked a few players to sign for AFC. In fact plenty of clubs each season advertise for players - from under 7's to some of the top amatuer teams(tho maybe not as regulary) so no wrong doing. To argue that they have gained from their pr is tough **** - it's good marketing in my opinion - and maybe one point of of view is they have gained from the fact they have set up as AFC liverpool is just sour grapes in my opinion - because thats who they are, end of, the reason it has been set up so if thats generated interest so be it - it's not forcing players to leave clubs and it's not forcing the local media to cover it.
Now with reference players leaving (whether, youth or senior) - if players want to sign for AFC liverpool thats their ****ing choice - as long as there is no blatant poaching(which is rife in amatuer football - i've seen it) then there can be no arguements. I reckon most players wanting to play for AFC liverpool will do cause they are liverpool fans and this will be as close as they can get or they see it as a chance to play at higher level and want to better themselves - nothing wrong with that.
I know plenty of players - liverpool fans, who I know would be good enough to play for AFC liverpool and have been interested in the idea but haven't bothered getting invovled, why? cause they are happy for the clubs they are playing for.
Now with regards to say youth teams wanting to get involved and AFC looking to add this well why the hell not - I'm pretty certain that aluns orignal idea was to start a team he could identify with as a liverpool plan - due to the hard work and effort etc it has probably snowballed quicker and bigger than alun imagined and if other teams(be it womens, youth etc) want to help or be involved he would be a fool not to explore other avenues and opportunites.i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

It's a piss pot amateur team cashing in on the name of Liverpool FC.Originally posted by PTP View PostMarsh it's a tricky one - I see your point, it isn't directly linked with Liverpool Football Club, tho it is linked in some way - i completely agree tho with how the thread has changed directons with the debate going on between the pro's and con's of AFC Liverpool and yada yada yada - the thread is no longer linged with Liverpool Football club.

Nope, not particularly, it doesn't particularly matter that The Glove is a mod and involved with AFC Liverpool, and has had no bearing at all on where this thread is.Originally posted by Marsh View Postcan anyone tell me what this is doing in the LFC and not general football forum?
could it be as some of the mods are involved

I'm not entirely sure why the location of this thread needs to be an issue really? The fact is that a group of fans, some who regularly frequent this site, have chosen to try to do something which they believe will be positive in Liverpool and for Liverpool fans. They've quite clearly stated on many occasions that they do not see AFC as an alternative to LFC, but as complimenting it. The club themselves have recognised this, have a look at the official site to see that.
Therefore it is related to LFC, and is about LFC fans trying to do something proactive and positive. Not everyone might agree, or understand, but I have no issue whatsoever with this site allowing the occasional thread in this section of the forum. We will have a discussion amongst ourselves and people like Alun to see what we think the best way to manage AFC Liverpool stuff on this site might be going forward, but at this moment in time I believe this is LFC related, and is appropriate in this forum, especially at a time of year where we really have little else LFC related to discuss.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
