Hmmmm, surprising. I've made a point of watching several reserve team games this year - even when there was CL footie on!

The league (they just won) seems competitive enough IMO, I interpret Rafa's point as wanting them playing Championship football (where they would struggle)

Each to their own, I guess.

When I have watched them in real life in the games I went to, yes.

1-0 victory after 120 minutes against Prescot Cables and a 1-0 defeat against Marine. The home sides were the better teams. How can I be passioate about something that can play once every 5 weeks against teams that have players coming back from injury and players not giving their all? If I want to see an exhibition game then I'll watch it.

        Sounds like you were unlucky.

I certainly haven't seen a lack of conviction in the games I've watched, and it's quite rare for a first-teamer to play.

i think the timeing of the release of afc liverpool has cause fans to question its integritty well maybe not integrity but reasons for being formed, there has been so many stories false and true that its hard to keep track and it all causes confusion...

iam 1 of those fans that when i 1st heard the stories i was like WTF bollocks to that they can stick it,all that kinda stuff, but like so many i based my opinons on the many stories that were goin around at the time, after comeing on here and haveing a few things straightened out for me my opinon has changed even though i still have a few minor doubts....

my local non league team brings alot to the town, they hold kids coaching season every monday for a pound, kids aged from 5-11 get to go there,i went and i can tell you it was a special feelin as a kid playing on that pitch and under the floodlights.there ground is also used for the final of the sunday league cup(the fa cup of the sunday leagues),if once afc liverpool is up and running with there own ground and well established did things like this then why not,if they can pick a area of liverpool that dosnt have a non league team were they can make a impact within the comunity and take some of the kids off the streets and onto a footie pitch then hell who ami to say no.if it makes a differnece then iam all for it.....

my only scare is what happens lets say 10 years from now afc liverpool is on the verge of qualifying for the prem,by some stoke of luck it happens what then, liverpool and afc liverpool in the prem, supporting a local non-league team and liverpool is 1 thing but supporting afc liverpool and liverpool fc in the same league well i suppose we will deal with it when it happens lol i need to lay off the weeeed....

good luck to the lads who ever you are and maybe ill come down and watch

I've watched all of the reserves games that have been on LFC.TV and I disagree with your assessment. So they played a couple of bad games, hell even the first team has a couple of bad games, would you stop watching them just because of that. Our future is in the reserve team, that is why I'm passionate about them. When I see players like Nemeth scoring in prettty much every game, I feel it's worth it. When I see Plessis going into the first team against Arsenal and getting MOM, I like that.

            Each to their own though.

I understand your reasons for supporting AFC and I commend them, but to justify it with such a negative opinion of the reserves though just doesn't ring true.

Agree, the reserves is definitely dog eat dog. Look how Spearing slipped down the pecking order when Plessis arrived.

I think Alun et al have done a wonderful job. Most people just come on here and moan about ****, they actually went out and did something about it. All power to them

I don't share you same concerns about identity, I think over time they will establish their own identity and won't be seen as competing against LFC just that they will be everyone elses 2nd team. I'd rather have a 2nd team like that than my current choice of, hmmm, better not say, I'll get flamed

At the end of the day this world is about survival of the fittest if AFC does a better job @ coaching and developing youngsters than everyone else, then well tough. Raise your game. Let's face it, the other teams have been around for years, if a muscian can come along and start from scratch and build a better club than you. Well, shame on you.

Liverpool doesnt actually have a non-league side so when we do get our own ground it will be inside the Liverpool boundary. We have a lot planned to involve the community but most of them are long term goals. Afterll we have only been trying to get this off the ground for the last 10 weeks or so but have already been in contact with various schools.

When we started this we asked oursleves 'Where do we see us getting to' and my answer along with most of the others was to be a solid League 2 or very good conference side. The mangers aim is to be the best Non League side in Merseyside. I think those targets are what we are aiming for rather than winning the Champions League. If AFC Liverpool gets that high that we are playing Liverpool then christ knows what'd happen!

Im glad you have atleast took the time to see what its about though and understand the reasons. If people have doen that and its not for them, then fair enough. I only get riled when people just dismiss it out of hand without understanding what its about.

I agree with this. It takes balls to actually get up off your arse and do something about things you want or disagree with. Most of us just sit and moan. Alun and the others got up off their arses.

Quick, fairly obvious, question - there must be local sides you could support, Why not go and watch those games?

I've got one myself - the might Bradley Stoke Town... and Bristol Rovers and City

And thats what we want. We arent about replacing LFC, we wouldnt stand a chance! But we are there for people who cant get to LFC. I mean, all our games will probably be saturday at 3pm. Chances are you could watch LFC as the early/late kick off in a pub then come to us for our game. We arent asking people to make a choice just to add live football back into their lives if they cant go to Anfield.

There is no affinity with LFC with the other clubs. AFC will be run by and supported by Liverpool fans. At games you will be able to sing the same songs you sing at Anfield.

You are spot on. TBH I've thought about this. I tried to think about all the bad things that could result due to AFC. I couldn't think of any!!!!
