****ing Hell, a thread where just about every post has a valid point, argument and counter argument, no mention of Gays or other ****e that highjacks most threads and even Neil Young hasnt been slagged off.

    Well done people.

Good to hear, but what about the other guy in this thread, who sounds like he must be involved in some sort of local football?

The other guy just sounds bitter. If he offers better to the youth of Liverpool then they will flock to his team. If AFC offers better then they will get the talent. Survival of the fittest and all that!

              Bitter about what, exactly?

You and others appear to have missed my point completely and are rallying to the AFC Liverpool flag with what looks like total blind allegiance.

Alun's original plans, that have been promoted to a massive degree on forums, websites, newspapers & radio stations, were a great model and I even registered my own interest in helping, administratively, but, as I have said before, certain things did not sit right with me and with being actively involved in Junior Footbal at Coaching, Club and now League level do not agree with this shift towards building a junior club within the AFC Liverpool's original model.

The exposure AFC Liverpool have had was due to Alun's original plans to create a Non-League alternative to Liverpool FC that fans could relate to and support without the huge costs involved, this exposure was widespread and is now being used to attract a totally different membership, a membership that would, inevitably, come from other clubs in the community who may not survive losing such membership - please remember that it's the members that pay their subs, attend fundraisers etc and without them where do the funds come from to support the clubs? You cannot apply for funding if you have no players to justify the application! The hard work put in by those clubs officials and coaches to build and maintain a good community club is devalued and what scares me more is that some of these people could be the very people who offered AFC LIverpool the benefit of their knowledge.

It's the use of that free exposure that is my problem, some would say an abuse of privilege.

I am not bitter in the slightest, just very disappointed & disillusioned.

i think anything to do with AFC belongs in the general football forum not the LFC one.

I do have a problem with the concept. We support LFC i tend to go and watch southport as my money makes a difference there. well it is supposed to. why rob smaller clubs of there support. these are clubs with years of history. it is too much like a small club riding on a prems club coat tails. and the badge looks like a soviet pin badge.

                rant over.

though i do have to say well done to those involved for what you have achieved just not sure that that effort wouldnt be better placed somewhere else

Hypothetical question for AFC Liverpool fans:

If AFC Liverpool meteorically rise to the Premiership one day and they play against Liverpool who will you support?

As long as youth football is developed, does it matter who does the developing?

Basically, what youre saying is that AFC Liverpool shouldnt have a youth set up even though every other football club has, AFC Lverpool shouldnt. Is that right?

Which Non-League clubs have a Junior Setup?

Surely the only thing is making sure that the facilities for kids wishing to learn and train are improved and expanded upon in the city - regardless of any badges or clubs.

If more kids get more chance to follow their dreams then it's all good, as far as I can see.

Can you explain to me how AFC Liverpool creating a Junior setup will improve and expand the facilities for other clubs?

I'm not saying that I'm thinking about the kids - if facilities overall in the city improve; i.e. more kids get a chance then who cares who delivers it?

Separating the wheat from the chaff, I'm hearing that some random musician from Liverpool has out PR'd you. Instead of moaning about it, realize that it's the way of the world and COMPETE. I really don't think Alun is out to annilihate you, he's just done a better job than you!
