i never said i wanted raf replaced with maureen. I said that maureen is a good manager. i made no comparisons between the two or anything.

Again i reiterate. If Rafa fails to compete this year i want him sacked. If he is out of the title race by Xmas I want him sacked then.

And as for Maureen, honestly, I reckon loads of you wanted him to join when we got rid of houllier.

even if hiddink was interested, how many years and how much of a 'dynasty' would we get out of him? he might win it once but would he be arsed rebuilding teams?

i think with him it'd be one crack at it and thats that.

      imho of course

I wanted him to join but i was delighted to get rafa. valencia were briliant so had no issues at 'missing out on maureen'.

but if you want rafa sacked if we can't compete for this title then who'd you pick to replace? you have also said that you don't believe rafa's the man to win the title for us and expect us to not compete (until this weekend). so it seems pretty certain in your mind that rafa will be gone in the summer. so who'd you want?

i and a couple of others suggest maureen is the next best candidate. thats all. who's yours?

it seems that juventus may be after rafa ,as well as a host of other massive clubs that have been sniffing around him in the last few years. If only they read this forum they would know that real football experts believe he is not up for the job.
Rafa even turned down the one club (madrid) that is closer to his heart - and at the time the best in the world. I am so pleased that he has decided to stick with liverpool through all the mess of the last two years.
Maureen was out of work for a year , presumably because no massive clubs wanted him - rafa on the other hand would walk straight into a job as he is possibly the most sought after manager in world football right now.

Hiddink is a good shout as is le Guen or even possibly someone like rikard (spelling)

The problem is that I dont believe any could garuntee the league - As stated here earlier - Rafa is closing the gap every year - Why on earth would you want to drop him if there was no garuntee that a replacement would have an immediate sucsess.

If rafa keeps fine tuning the squad each year then I believe that real soon we will see a team that challenges for everything , every year .

Those us of that wanted him back then, and I was one of them, knew very little about him at the time, he was just a promising young manager.

I can guarantee that now everyone in the world knows what a complete cock he is that no one wants him anywhere near our club now, me included.

your such a wum rage, you really are. before rafa came we were uefa cup wannabe's who one it once and no where in the league. rafa rebuilt us from ground level up and on a spurs/barcode like budget has taken us to champions league triumphs and now a real chance at no 19.

people like you cant wait for us to fail just to prove your own negative bile correct.

Pezzer, before Rafa we were finishing 3rd or 4th (and 2nd once) and now we're finishing 3rd or 4th.

I dont want rafa sacked at all and i think he's doing a good job. But to say we were finishing nowhere in the league before him, and that our league performance has improved, would be incorrect mate.

i don't think i'm the only one with that sentiment.

oh and hypothetically speaking hiddink would be a solid choice and the rock star would be an interesting gamble. maureen i think would relish the chance to manage us but i don't think he covered himself in glory whilst at chelsea and i'm not sure i enjoy his attraction seeking antics.

agree you're not but it'd be nice if 'he should go' was accompanied by a 'and we bring in ...'

anyway. i've said this above, do you not think hiddink is too old now?

who's the rock star btw? kluivert?

and after he came we won the champions league and we have finished second, I know which I prefer.

IMO we are way ahead in terms of quality to where we were when Rafa took over. However, so are many of the other teams so the bar has definitely risen. As an example, before last season, only one tam had finished fourth with more than 70 points over the past ten years, and that was Newcastle with 71. Last season we finished with 76.

The fact of the matter is that winning the league is a whole different ball game to where it was when we were winning it so regularly. Benitez's winning percentage is higher than Paisley's, Britain's most successful manager, and is on a par with old whisky nose down the road, so he must be doing something right.

I feel that we don't actually appreciate what we have. IMO he has done a similar job to Ferguson when he was in his first 5 years at the Mancs. He slowly but surely got rid of the **** and then had a team as he wanted. He was a little fortunate in that he had such o good crop of youngsters but nevertheless still had to virtually rebuild. Rafa has done the same. People spout off about the money he has spent but the fact is, he had to. We were dire. Gerrard's quote to Rafa on his first day "you don't realise how bad we are". Well I cannot imagine anyone saying that to him now! Progress...what progress?

no bilic (sp?) the bloke who made mclaren look a fool before mclaren went abroad and forgot how to speak english in under a month and made himself look more of a fool than anyone else could ever have.

i think hiddink still has one last battle left in him BUT on current form rafa is probably in his best form with us as he ever has been. just hope we can turn over wigan and the chelsea game will be hugely significant.

winning the league is always a different ball game than before. its all relative. i didn't know that rafa's winning % in the league was the same as furguson although he has been at it 3 times longer i suppose.

i agree that rafa had to spend money BUT i don't think it was as bad as you describe. we won the champions league with the addition of 2 players.
