So you`ve allready made up your mind, when the player in question is a CM and only 21.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postto summarise, to you honestly see lucas getting a game in man utd's midfield ahead of hargreaves, carrick, scholes or in chelsea ahaed of lampard, ballack, deco or even ahead of fabregas or denilson at the arsenal? of course not. he's not aywhere neard gerard, masher or alonso level and wouldn't get a sniff at any of the other big four. my opinion of him will not change.....he should not be getting a game for our first 11.
His last games has proved that there is something about him, and he certainly seems to have the right attitude.
There is more to come from him IMO.Blank

It's also crap IMO. Still, it's totally unprovable either way and, to answer your question, that's why it's brought up in internet forums.
.
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

It’s even worse that the United / Chelsea / Arsenal don’t drop points to the likes of Stoke / Fulham etc argument. At least that one can be proved wrong.
For what it’s worth I don’t think Lampard or Deco would get in our (Rafa’s team), purely because we have Gerrard and neither would compliment him or fit our system. Does that make them ****? I could make similar points about United players, but don’t want to encourage any pointless arguments about who’s better than who.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Spot on, he's definitely got potential and Rafa's faith could well pay off.Originally posted by wiw View PostHow can you say he will "never be good enough" ? He's a box to box midfielder who has played box to box in about 3 games for Liverpool. Rafa has clearly eased him into the role and must now feel he's ready. He was absolutely quality today and I'm delighted for him - the number of arseholes at Anfield that have already written him off as ****e and sigh whenever he does anything other than perfect get right on my tit. The fact he's improved in the face of this is testament to his mentality. He is 21 FFS
Being Australian I was a big Kewell fan and always said Kewell was better than Gerrard up to about that game from memory. I started to realise Gerrard might just get better and surpass Harry. Admittedly Harry is a couple of years older so was more advanced in his development but by the time he joined us, 2 years later, Gerrard was the man.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostWell the England 5-1 Germany game that he completely dominated was in 2001, when he would have been 21, if that helps.
No comparison now obviously.

Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

Whether or not he would get a game in their teams would depend very much on how he impressed in training, and how well the others in the squad did. And let's be honest, with the Arsenal midfield a complete mess Lucas would surely have played more games there than he would have at LFC. I rate Lucas higher than Alex Song and at the level of Abou Diaby at least. Denilson has more experience of the first team but has not exactly set the world alight.Originally posted by the rev leeroy brown View Postto summarise, to you honestly see lucas getting a game in man utd's midfield ahead of hargreaves, carrick, scholes or in chelsea ahaed of lampard, ballack, deco or even ahead of fabregas or denilson at the arsenal? of course not. he's not aywhere neard gerard, masher or alonso level and wouldn't get a sniff at any of the other big four. my opinion of him will not change.....he should not be getting a game for our first 11.Forwards.......

have to hold up my hand and say that he played very well against newcastle.
i hope its not the start of another false dawn with lucas as one excellent performance is followed by 15 piss poor ones.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

He is a young developing player. Every top four team has a similar young player that they are trying to develop i.e Anderson, Denilson, Mikel. You don't win brazilian footballer of the year for nothing. How about patience and support for the lad instead of writing him off so quickly

He's far too young to give up hope on, and he's played some storming games lately to merit his place in the squad. There's more to come from Lucas and I for one want him to remain here.
Most players don't develop into stars overnight. Just look at Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher! It takes time and patience, and I believe that most sensible fans know this.
Anyone who claims otherwise is either 10 years old or a dirty manc.

That header Given saved from him, his reaction said it all, he was desperate to score, and i think generally he's desperate to please Rafa/Fans/Club too, which is a good starting point, attitude is everything, if you have talent you only need have the correct attitude and you'll be ok, i hope Lucas is ok, and that he develops into a very handy player to have around for LFC.

Whats impressed me about Lucas recently is that he has shown he has football intelligence and a very good engine. He is aways moving and keeps things simple, prefering the quick short pass before running into space to make himself available for a return ball.
The interplay and movement from our front 5 against Newcastle really allowed Lucas to flourish and we saw exactly what he is capable of.
If he can bring a bit more physical tenacity into his game, I think we could have a very good player here.

what?, he was by far the worst, didnt find a pass or a tackle all day, woeful for centre mid "box to box" player, he would not get near to other top 3 teams, im sure of itOriginally posted by wiw View PostHe was no worse than most of the team today. I didn't think he was as ****e as most seem to. Him and Mascher were stepping on each other's toes a lot though, was (sadly) ordered to stay back it seems

lucas is a liability to the team. time and time again i've said he is too lightweight, too slow to see a pass and no the best at tackling. and today i have been proved right. one good(ish) game against newcastle turned alot of people into fans of his but hopefully they will now see the truth. not good enough for lfc.People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.
