An open letter to Robbie keane

I am not of the opinion that he had such a great chance, but it could be argued he didn't deseve any better. I think most will point to Berbatov, he has been constantly played by Fergie and he is now starting to look the real deal. Barbatov did not deserve to be on the pitch most of the time and has offered very little at times, but Fergie had confidence in him and it's only now paying off - at the business end of the season where it counts.

Rafa obviously did not have faith in his signing and saw little in training to suggest he was worth sticking with.

the thing with scum though is they wbatter teams for the last 10 mins and berbatov seemed to be in the right place, we dont create as much as scum have recently so those misses of keane have been highlighted more. When teams win it can hide the facts.

I dont think iv ever read so many idiotic comments on one thread, some people on here have lost the ability to take a step back and take an independant view of the going on`s at Anfield.
Our manager seems to be gathering a cult following, Rafa is not only a good manager, very smart but he also is A Master Manipulator and it seems to me that a lot of people are being blinded by rafa`s verbal beams of light!!

The support of the Manager and the Players should be of equal measures, as should the blame.

No it should not. The manager should always be supported over the players, otherwise he should be sacked. I don't want Rafa sacked so I obviously side with him over Keane.

I don't agree with everything Rafa does, but I do back him. Because in football you either back the manager and give him what he needs - Or you sack him. Rafa is the one who gave Keane a chance and now Rafa is one taking that chance away. I can't see what all the fuss is about.

For what it is worth (having been already labelled) I am sick to death with a lot of how Rafa behaves but this Keane issue is purely related to him not being good enough and has nothing to do with my feelings about Rafa.

Keane has had more clear cut chances than Berbatov of the games and highlights I've seen. And despite being invisible at imes Keane has been the more involved in games! Keane could also argue that in the last 15 minutes of games his ability will bring him more chances to assist and score against tiring defences.

And no one can tell me that in games gone by Lucas was a better option of the bench than Keane when we were drawing 0-0.

Also I think it's fair to say that in most cases players and manager can share responsibility for success and failure. However I really don't see why the blame should be shared equally unless responsibility is equal.

When you not only signed for the club you supported as a boy, but were given the hallowed number 7 jersey in the process, it must have been a dream come true - but the way that dream descended into six months of nightmare was unfair and completely uncalled for.

To never being given a chance to find form was unfair. To be dropped and benched time and time again while having the burden of an unjustified price tag was also unfair. To be a part of a squad that no matter how you performed, how hard you trained, or how much heart you gave to the club was never going to matter.

You have remained professional throughout and showed signs of ‘making the grade’ with the goal at Arsenal and two more against Bolton, alas you we’re dropped for the next match and saw only 75 minutes of league action since.

I, and many others, wish you well on your return to Spurs - and can understand that your feelings towards the club you’ve always loved may have changed. Many of us have supported you, and wanted to see you get a fair chance, but it was never on the cards. Alas, you were just one of the toys thrown out of the pram during our manager’s month of madness, where he thought nothing of treating a consummate professional as a pawn in a political game just so he could prove his point and get his way.

Its hard to know if the board would have allowed Rafa to bring anyone while his contract hasnt been signed. And it can be very hard to get a decent player this time of year, cant really think of any strikers who would be available that I would want.
I doubt it will put any footballers off from coming, they all seem to have big heads and probably think it wouldnt happen to them. Its not the first time a footballer has been treated like crap and I doubt it will be the last.

Might not have been the best year for Keane as a footballer but the lad has made a fortune from it. 2 big transfers and him getting a nice wack from both of them. I do feel sorry he didnt make it, but find it hard to have to much sympathy for him.

depends on the player, but with a PL proven player i would say at least a season including pre-season. But I think there was more to this ie Rafa's and Robbie's personalities and I just think that Keane needs to be a regular starter.
