I wonder what happens if Pellegrini comes in and gets us playing high tempo attacking football - will Tomkins suddenly start saying that this is the right way to play, and totally contradict from all the backing he gave to our slow tempo game under Rafa?

Got a feeling this wont come off, dont know why. Would like it to though.

Bare in mind Pellegrini got Madrid their highest points total ever last season, with a team that wasnt even filled with his players of choice.

I'm just really keen to continue the Spanish link. We're the most Spanish side in the Premier League, just at the same time as they're producing the best players in the world. He has a relationship with Reina, which is also massive in my view, and I'm pretty sure will help us keep Nando.

That apart from his impressive record - without ever really winning anything of note, granted - and his exciting brand of football. Bring it on

His appointment could calm waters quite a bit. It would be nice to have one good news after flood of depressing ones. I personally like his attacking style of play and I'd be thrilled to see him as our new manager.

imo not only that we would be able keep on Nando I'd be confident (as long as he is given some budget) to think he would be able to attract and bring some other quality players from either Spain and/or South America.

Would love it to be true but this club hardly ever gets good news anymore so am not expecting it.

He claimes he was touting him a couple of weeks ago:

Subscribers to this website, with whom I’ve discussed the issue at length, will know that I named Manuel Pellegrini as my choice for the vacant Liverpool manager’s job some weeks ago, even when his odds were 40-1.

From day one he was my choice, I just wish I'd backed him. It seemed pointless at the time, he wasn't remotely in the frame and why would anyone in their right mind back Purslow and the other snakes to do the right thing by the club? Even though he was my #1 choice I wasn't expecting an appointment of his calibre, which is why...like Chris...I just don't expect it to happen.
