    So the BBC clearly suck
It did seem odd that there are 21 players in the squad, when usually it's 19
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Im pretty sure neither Insua or Aurelio are registered for tonight because neither are supposed to still be at the club

BBC ticker says that Rabotnicki have been charges by UEFA because of fans behaviour.
        Oh I don't know.

The BBC just make those squads up, I cannot understand how such a reputable news organisation can get away with that **** for so long. Complete guesswork and has been for years.

The teams that have been successful in the PL and Europe have all used three line team structures because of this and United, Arsenal and Chelsea despite encouraging fullbacks to push up have had excellent defensive records. You leave gaps but they are more rarely exposed if the 'wingbacks' are any good.

You can also argue that in a team dominating possession you always want to defend with three or four players. A 4-2-3-1 or related formation allows you to chose the three or four from a choice of six. If the players are all good on the ball this assists both attack and defence (again see Spain and Barcelona as prime examples of this).

I also don't buy that 4-4-2 necessarily means more goal threats. For most teams it reduces them to three - the strikers and whichever midfielder you allow to bomb forward to join. Teams have nearly always had DMs - it seems to me something of a myth that they are an invention of recent years necessitated by new formations.
Does Degen fit that bill? Does Insua? Not nearly Dave. We don't have that standard of player unfortunately but we've still tried to play the formation. FAIL

And the DM player in the 442 is the player that isn't going forward. In other words it changes from time to time. Either of the 2 CM's can go forward and the other covers. No need for a DM in most matches but certainly against top sides I would play with 1.
