Surely Evra is giving evidence so that the panel or Suarez's defence team (assuming he is allowed one) can question him if they want to.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I understand. I just didnt realise that both sides attended a charge hearing.

Just thought that the FA decide whether or not to charge based on the allegations, and then bring the "defendant" to the hearing.

Is his defence team legal? If it is then I would suspect that a guilty verdict would be appealed

I don't know what the process is but I don't see how it can be lawful for the FA to stop him having a barrister or solicitor if he wants. So I'd assume he has legal counsel.

I'm also assuming they'd want to test the prosecution evidence, even if it is simply a recapitulation of what has already happened. It's exactly the same in a court of law when you think about it - the CPS weigh up the evidence based on witness statements etc. and then the witnesses give their evidence again when it comes to trial.

Can they appeal? Obviously they can take it to court for a proper legal judgement but I'm sure there are FA or even FIFA rules about going to (real) court. It's not lawful for them to stop it, because the law of the land takes precedence over everything, but I'm not sure how it might operate in practice.

Yes. I would think that the charge is so serious that if he is found guilty then an appeal to somewhere would be likely.

I like the idea of Luis' councel crossexamining Evra. Im they will ask all the questions that we would.

I have inside info that the three man panel for Suarez's hearing is made up of David Gill, and two Star Wars Lego figures. #lfc #suarez

I have a Great feeling about this, they charge Suarez they will create and International incident and and whole waterfall of ****e is going to rain down on them

The easier and more correct option would be to charge Evra although I suspect they will park this on semantics and call it even.

The other charge I seriously cannot see how they can let those other players away Scott free yet charge Johnny Foreigner

The Ideal solution would be to give him a warning and in a statement inform the rest of the players it will not be tolerated moving forward.

Well the Uragay FA have gone on record saying the will support Suarez and most Latino,s I know think this charge is plain ridiculous and If the FA charge Suarez it will be them who will be guilty of racism in the extreme, thus creating a much bigger story. You do not meet the visa requirements to live in my planet, try Singapore they will let all kinds of rif raf in there
