Your 1st paragraph is untrue. Plenty of people thought there was a bias towards Scum long before this case (albeit outright corruption is possibly a little strong), so to insinuate it to be a "lashing out" is clearly incorrect.

The Respect campaign crucified Masher, then chose to ignore a whole catalogue of similar misdemeanours by Scum and it was one of many. Yes they do get punished, but on a relatively small %age & fairly leniantly given the frequency & levels of their behaviour.

Foul and abusive language for one. There are many instances where had that happened in a normal street, that could be construed as something reportable to the police. Footballers are routinely charged with this.

Malicious tackles are another. Why wasn't Roy Keane charged by the poilce for intentionally ending that guys career in a coldhearted act of revenge?
