As rar as I remember, there was no initial evidence to support those comments as Mariner didn't report any wrongdoing on Luis part so I'm not so sure that wasn't only Winter's possible interpretation that may not really be true.

Because he never reported it, it doesn't mean that he didn't hear anything. He may have contrued from Suarez's tone/manner that it was intended to be conciliatory and non-offensive so did not warrant mention afterwards. Yet when Evra kicks up a fuss later, everything that was said gets brought up and analysed.

How would it look if Suarez denied saying anything at all, and the ref chimes in with: "I heard him say something but I thought at the time it was not intended to be offensive so didn't bother mentioning it". He's now got Evra PLUS the ref contradicting him.

Obviously it's my own interpretation of the Winter snippet; the ref may not have heard anything at all, but if Suarez isn't sure that everything he said was out of earshot from others then it could rebound on him big style if he denied saying anything at all.

IF he's found guilty then the FA have to offer up why he's guilty and it better be good or the media will tear them apart if any suspension is based on hearsay,supposition etc.I'm still confident.

In my opinion, the intent is the important thing. I don't think Suarez had any intent to racially abuse Evra...he was simply trying to wind him up as was Evra to Suarez, and we all know Evra's a **** to begin with. Suarez doesn't exactly have a history of racist behavior, and there's nothing to suggest that he had had problems getting on with black teammates in the past.

I understand the FA feel that they have to do something, although I cannot help but feel that a lot of people out there would love to see Suarez get ****ed over big time. Give him a fine and a warning and call it a day.

People all over the country get found guilty for things they haven't done, and people all over the country get found not guilty for things they have done.

We'll stand by Suarez and quite rightly so.

I can't see where these rumours of an eight match ban come from. How would this sort of info be leaked? I do believe he'll get banned but I also believe that the only people who know are the ones inside that room. And it's possible they haven't even reached a verdict yet.

The FA can't just take an arbitrary decision of this magnitude because they want to be seen as taking some stand. I do think that this matter raises the question of who should be in this panel and why there isn't a rule declaring incompetency through connections, very amateurish IMO.

He has to be cleared, no other outcome, based on the evidence we have seen nota bene.

To me if he didn't report anything initially it would mean that there was no good reason to do so and any subsequent changes to his initial statement would bring in some doubts about his integrity.
