Was wondering that myself, but I assume that forever reason the club want the ban to start tonight. Whether they fancy getting points off Spurs more than City or they don't think Suarez would be in the right frame of mind tonight (so no point in not playing and not have it count off the ban), I don't know, but I'm guessing that's why.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

It can only be that.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWas wondering that myself, but I assume that forever reason the club want the ban to start tonight. I also think, weirdly or not, the results of Chelsea/Arsenal in the past few days, in taking the pressure off us for tonight's game, played a part in this decision. Because of their dropped points, even a defeat tonight wouldnt leave us in bad shape regarding the race for top four.

Great statement by the club, and the sensible thing to do. No way does this mean that we agree on the verdict.

Would the replay count as another game on his ban?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostNo he wouldnt miss the final. The final is scheduled for February 26th, by which stage the ban will have expired. We have 7 games in January and the FA Cup 4th round is scheduled for January 28th, which would be an 8th game.
I still maintain we should draw with Oldham

Ha ha, how great would that be? Play our normal game, go 4 up, then with 5 mins to go, score 4 own goals as a big **** you to the FA.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI think that's the only decision that was left open for the club. For whatever reason, we found ourselves in a position that meant no appeal would have been successful and that by making an appeal, the suspension (extended or not) would have taken place during some seriously critical periods of the season. By accepting it now, we've taken a measure, partly tactical, to ensure that Suarez is available for Man Utd away and, assuming we beat Oldham to ensure a 4th Round FA Cup tie, he will be available for Spurs at home the game before. Ultimately though, there was nothing to be gained for the club in appealing this and clearly things reached a stage where it's best for the club to put this whole ugly affair behind them. That's what they've done.
If we wanted to be cynical about things, we could seek to draw the cuptie at home and make sure that 2 of the 8 games are against Oldham when he wouldnt have probably played anyhow. Likewise, if we were to get a lower division side away from home in the 4th round, we could draw that and take it to a reply at Anfield - meaning half the ban will take place for 'easy' FA Cup ties.
The games Suarez will miss (as things stand):
Man City (a)
Oldham (h) FA CUP
Man City (a) CARLING CUP
Stoke (h)
Bolton (a)
Man City (h) CARLING CUP
Wolves (a)
Spurs (h)
As i said, if we progress in the Cup, he wont miss the Spurs game. Clearly the club have had a look at which games he will miss and decided that there are more important, harder games that we'll need him for.
I also wonder if this means we'll move for a striker fairly shortly. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

That's what i mean, from their point of view, we are accepting he's a racist. although we are notOriginally posted by Daniel 7 View Post****ing Everton fans - look what one of them put on Facebook

Ignorant. Probably put on to wind up, but still....

It would count as one of the 8 games, yes. Likewise, if we progress to the 4th Round of the FA Cup, that game would also count as part of the 8 game ban.Originally posted by Rabiosa View PostWould the replay count as another game on his ban?
So if we drew the Oldham game, won the replay, drew the 4th Round tie, won the replay - that would mean four of the eight games would be FA Cup ties, hopefully against sides we wouldnt have selected him for anyway.
