Which is exactly why we should have attempted to take the moral high ground of a public attempt at conciliation.

There is such divergence between the two versions of events that it's perfectly understandable that the accusations evoked such anger and incredulity, and it would be difficult for the accused to think that offering an olive branch in those circumstances to clear up a ‘simple misunderstanding’ would help to bridge the wide chasm of difference between the two sides.

Plus, the mancs would simply use an approach as an admission of guilt and continue to push the issue.
