thats you're opinion but personally i wouldn't read to much into the fact i indirectly mentioned him...the situation with Forest decades ago is in so many ways irrelevant to the point i was trying to make.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostTo be fair, I think it was that idea that lad to Forest's decline under Clough too, over simplified.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Do tell me when Kenny became responsible for negotiating the transfers?Originally posted by Arn View Post
They will look at players like Downing, Henderson and Carroll and ask themselves if he improved them if they are value for money and if we can trust him in the transfer market again?
The answer is no.
I don't know why they should back Kenny again when his record in the transfer market so far is simply shocking.
£20m for Downing
£35m for Carroll
£20m for Henderson
Only two players have been value for money, Suarez and Enrique. Coates is to early to say.
That is a long way from being good enough.
Club wanted more English players (UEFA fair play rules probably had something to do with this, no?) and they are overpriced, you know that. Everyone of those three performed very well for their previous clubs, in the Premier League. Can't see too much fault in us going after them.
The money issue is just silly. If we now have money, why can't we spend it?Forbes knows best... FACT

You should entirely care that they were free/cheap, because what else do you expect for players in that price bracket? You pay peanuts, you get monkeys - and for too long, Rafa only had peanuts to spend.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostDegen, el Zhar, Jovanovic, kyriagkos, ngog...i dont care if they were free , these were sub-standard players that should not have been allowed anywhere near the club. At least kennys signings are of a certain standard. Yes, he's had money to spend but so what? Its not my money.
Who do you think he should've signed for £1m fees and free transfers, Aguero and Llorente?
"So what. It's not my money" - do you ever buy anything from the club, or go to games? If so, you're contributing to that money.
And furthermore, it's not about whose money it is, it's about there not being an unlimited supply of it, so when it's spent, it needs to be spent well because if we get signings wrong, we cant just go and spend another £100m to fix it.

What does nationality have to do with the Uefa Financial Fair Play rules?Originally posted by Finnish_Red View PostDo tell me when Kenny became responsible for negotiating the transfers?

As for money, see my post above - the money is not in unlimited supply, if we spend it, we need to get it right for the most part because if we sign players who arent good enough, we cant just turn on the money tap again and go on another mad spending spree to rectify the problems.

Don't care if they were free or 1m...they were trash and should not have been signed. Obviously I'm gutted about missing out on the double swoop for Aguero and Llorente for 1mOriginally posted by Craig_H View PostYou should entirely care that they were free/cheap, because what else do you expect for players in that price bracket? I think mistakes have been made but my general feeling is that we're on the right track and if that means about 30m mis spent then so be it. Let's not forget the trash we managed to get rid of over the summer.

So if we have holes in the squad and only have a £3m budget to plug them with, you'd rather we simply didnt buy anyone and leave the wholes in the squad? Sounds a bit risky to me....Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostDon't care if they were free or 1m...they were not good enough so should not have been signed. £30m mis spent, according to you, 'so be it' - yet you complain that Rafa bought **** players (because he didnt have the money to buy quality ones). So on one hand, you're ok with mis-spending big amounts of money, but on the other you dont like it when we're forced to buy cheapo **** players due to lack of funds....

Yep, we are still paying for the **** Hicks, Gillett, Rafa and Hodgson left here, Kenny needs time to sort it out.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostDegen, el Zhar, Jovanovic, kyriagkos, ngog...i dont care if they were free , these were sub-standard players that should not have been allowed anywhere near the club. If the rules are enforced, it will be extremely difficult to buy a lot of british talent. Now we have the "home grown spine" covered and can add what is needed without having to think about the nationality. Hopefully you can see what I'm aiming at, not sure of my english...Originally posted by Craig_H View PostWhat does nationality have to do with the Uefa Financial Fair Play rules?

We got a rid of a lot of dead wood from from our wagebill too, so now I think we are in great position to add a couple of game changers.Forbes knows best... FACT

I honestly cant see what point you're making. Your previous post included "Club wanted more English players (UEFA fair play rules probably had something to do with this, no?)" - to suggest that because of the Uefa FP rules, we want more english players. But the rules arent to do with nationality of players, they just stipulate that you can only spend what your club earns.Originally posted by Finnish_Red View PostIf the rules are enforced, it will be extremely difficult to buy a lot of british talent. So i'm a bit confused as to the link between this and English players, to be honest mate.

Id rather the manager had a better eye for a bargain or maybe did not let certain players go when a appropriate replacement was not available.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostSo if we have holes in the squad and only have a £3m budget to plug them with, you'd rather we simply didnt buy anyone and leave the wholes in the squad? As to your second point, I would say over-spending rather than mis-spending. I think the players brought in can all have a role to play in getting 4th spot (as opposed to being complete cack).
Also, just to let you know, I'm typing with my iPad and it's a ****ing mission so i'm keeping things brief.

Of course i'd love to be signing quality players for bargain prices, but it's a majorly difficult thing to do and if you get more than a couple a year, you're doing marvellously well.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostId rather the manager had a better eye for a bargain or maybe did not let certain players go when a appropriate replacement was not available.

It's a bit like a keeper saving a peno, you dont expect it and it's not that likely, but a lovely bonus if it happens
Unfortunately in this day and age, quality players cost megabucks.
