I really don't like this group "speaking on behalf of the fans" as they don't and I for one can't imagine I will ever want them to.

The price of watching football in this country is frankly scandalous. But then going to Anfield is pretty good value when compared to going to a West End show. Or watching the Rolling Stones, or Michael MacCintyre.

It's inevitable. If we're to compete at the top (and with the stadium issues) a price increase is the only way it's going to happen. Sadly money runs the games these days.

      I dunno mate.

I see their point but I don't like the way that they seem to speak for the fans. Because they certainly don't speak for me.

      Good intentions of course though.

With the latest TV deal I am not sure that the ticket prices have to go up personally.

I don't think they have ever claimed to speak on behalf of all our fans. As far as I am concerned they play an important role because issues like ticket prices are very important matters and if they don't speak out who will?

            **** like this http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liver...0252-31768463/

And taken from their own website

The work of Spirit Of Shankly will continue. Tom Hicks and George Gillett have gone, but the loyal supporters remain. Whilst they do, they need a voice. We will continue to be that voice.

Isn't the reason they are updating the ticket prices because at the moment all tickets in the same stand are the same price? e.g. a ticket in the lower centenary is the same whether you sit on the half way line or right in the corner, obviously the view isn't the same, so I don't see why the ticket prices should be the same. I don't have a problem with this.

Obviously there are different ways to go about this and I don't think any of them would be easy to implement (in terms of keeping everyone happy)

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Its never the same prices at most modern grounds too. I've sat on the last row in the corner of the upper cent. stand and you can see very little of the other side of the pitchline, the same for price paid to sit in the paddock. The Views are different the prices should reflect this. Why Don't SOS say congrats to FSG for Reducing the 15,000 Kop end tickets or keeping them the same.

Liverpool FC fans say next year's season ticket rises are an "insult" to loyal supporters, despite a freeze on ticket prices for the Kop.

I read they are/were the 9th most expensive in the PL. Supply and demand. If the former is limited, price needs to go up to max revenue.

Absolutely. It's all relative and as we can see from the latest financial figures, it's not to line the pockets of the owners - it's there to develop and grow the football club ... almost an investment from ourselves into the club.

But heh, at least SOS have spoken the loudest for me and summarised my words in to one: 'insulting'.

Yaaay, SOS ... you're *so* right. Again.

A number of points emanate here if I can join the discussion .

                              1. How many on here will be affected by the Ticket rises ?

Have you done a poll or survey ?

                              2. Is anyone aware of the £5 kids ticket restrictions ?

A kid can only get a said ticket accompanied with a full paying adult in the Anfield Rd if I'm not mistaken . Take our Blue neighbours . Kids can go to their Ticket Office and purchase for games along with their teenage mates in a number of areas of the ground .

                              3. No mention of the TV deals later in the year which will see clubs being able to cut prices rather than raise them due to the value of the money poured in from them .

                              4. Why won't the Chairman Tom Werner speak to an elected body of Liverpool Supporters instead of those on the appointed Supporters Committee . Are the Supporters Committee being used by Mr Ayre as being consulted meaning they where in "full agreement" with the implementations . Where is the "Supporters Committee "statement" ratifying Mr Ayre's comments ?

                              5. And lastly , surely the 716% hikes since 1989 don't fall in line with Inflation so are we not right to ask why ?

This stance falls in line with our away ticket campaign which started with the "£62 Rip Off" posters at Arsenal .

We'd be hypocritical if we never challenged Friday's Club Statement .

Liverpool FC Supporters Union Spirit of Shankly flag on the Kop at Anfield

LIVERPOOL FC supporters' union Spirit of Shankly has condemned the club's season ticket price rises.

The fans group has branded next season's price hikes "an insult to long-standing supporters".

On Saturday the ECHO reported a six-tier system, which will see prices increase by up to nine per cent in some areas of the ground, is to be brought in next season.

Season tickets in the Kop will remain level or be reduced while a £5 child ticket option is to be introduced for certain games.

A statement from the group said: "In the midst of austerity, with redundancies and cutbacks a daily reality for many supporters, these inflation-busting price rises are an insult to long-standing supporters who have already suffered a massive 716 per cent price rise since 1989.

"Supporters in the Main Stand and Paddock endure facilities that survived the Shankly era redevelopment, with so-called "concourses" dating back to 1907, while the cramped seating in the Lower Centenary has been notorious since that structure was built as the Kemlyn Road stand in 1963.

"It is our guess that not one of Liverpool’s multiple "owners" has ever watched a match from any of these seats and that none of them have ever availed themselves of the so-called "facilities" in the Paddock or Main Stand.

"If we are wrong, then more shame on them for believing £815 to £850 is fair price to pay for ’the product’ on offer."

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre told liverpoolfc.com: "Over the past two years the club has given careful consideration to ticket prices and pricing structures in consultation with the Supporters Committee.

"Following last year’s price freeze this year we have reviewed our overall stadium pricing structure and, similar to many other Premier League clubs, from next season we will also be introducing a multiple-tier pricing structure which will more accurately reflect seat location and view."
