Buzz, Nev, come and talk about it here, copy/past your stuff from the Henderson thread
Our pressing... what planet are we from
Some players lead the pressing, others move in to collect the 2nd ball from the hurried passes, it's truly a thing of beauty when well executed
removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I was going to reply in the Mo Salah thread, but here is better...
The glory days of the old inverted winger (left footer on the right) are gone, every defender knows they are going to cut back on their left and come inside.
We don't need a left peg on the right. We defo don't need a right footed right winger who is going to lump it into the middle so our midgets to get stomped on! But a well placed cut back for the late runner, as man city often do, would be far more useful and give us greater options regarding looking at new signings.removing all the weak links makes us stronger

Yeah, we’ve really struggled for goals this season
(as of 3rd May) Jurgen Klopp's free-scoring Reds are the most prolific Liverpool team in the club's 129-year history.
Liverpool's 3-2 win at Villarreal on Tuesday night saw them take their tally of goals to 139 in all competitions this season.
That is an average of 2.44 goals per game.Last edited by Buzzo; 26-05-22, 10:16 AM.Modifying post.

The fullbacks already give that option. Man City still play with inverted forwards too.Originally posted by baitman View PostI was going to reply in the Mo Salah thread, but here is better...

Yep. the use of inverted forwards is going nowhere.
You gain far more of an attacking threat with them and a player cutting in onto his good foot has a greater ranger of shooting options than a guy whose good foot is facing away from the goal
Full backs and wing backs provide the width for a hell of a lot of the best performing teams in the better leagues with the wide men providing goal threats by cutting in onto their stronger foot.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Not really sure where to put this, so here seems most appropriate. In the majority of games our approach of being calm, patient and wearing the opposition generally works against most teams in the league, but one thing that we seem to lack now in the big games in particular is the ability to score when we are on top. (of we haven't done it really early (first 10-15 mins) Against sides like Madrid and the Cup finals this season we have had periods of domination but just haven't scored, while against the lesser sides patience seems to pay off, against the bigger sides or bigger games it doesn't seem to wok as often, and failure to make our dominance count and score when we are on top proves costly, we got away with it in domestic cups but not last night.
I'm not sure what we do other than become more clinical in front of goal, just an observation really. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Is it wise to continue to stubbornly stick to playing such a high line while we are struggling so much.
Our full backs are getting rinsed out there. Some of them can't even be arsed to jog, never mind run, ffs!
If we dropped off 10 yards more then we will be better able to cut out the counter attacks.
Klopp being so rigid really isn't helping. He will play 4-3-3 until his dying day, but maybe he needs to be more pragmatic and consider some options that would make better use of the players we have available.
If our defence was to drop 10 yards deeper we could play a midfield 4, so less ground for the full backs to have to cover and they won't be continually left so exposed on the counter.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
