I'd like us to just drop Salah and Gakpo to the bench and try something different

A midfield of Wirtz in the hole, buzzing around the front 2 of Ekitike and Isak. Then Macca and Dom as the main mids with Grav sitting in behind in the role he played last season.

Then let Kerkez/Robbo + Bradley/frimpong create the width like they are used to doing without having to worry about defending so much.

More bodies in midfield stops sides just carving us open so easily and provides cover for the fullbacks and centrebacks

TBH that's surely the formation whoever pulled the trigger on all these signings had in mind when they did so.

The formation we're playing now just isn't working and if Slot cant make it work or adjust he'll be out IMO.

agree with this. We definitely had a succession plan for Salah and surely you would think a way to fit our new signings into the team and in a style that gets the best out of them. For some reason, none of this has happened. Slot can't sustain many more losses in the short term, regardless if he won the league it is just not sustainable the way we are going. He has some big decisions to make and he's going to pull something out of the bag that personally I just can't see at the moment. One thing is for sure he cannot keep playing the same under performing guys in the same ineffective system... something has got to give. As Buzzo said this is not a quick fix but the least the players can do, I mean the very least is work their bollox off and get stuck as sometimes even when you aren't playing well... that is enough to win games.

Get the consistent reliable fighters in the team.

Gomez at fullback to make things more solid and Robertson on the other side. Get Endo in there to battle like no other midfielder does and let him sit in front of the two CB’s. Have a solid 5 there and keep it tight.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Gravenberch a bit higher up the pitch if Endo is there. He can open teams up with his close control and little through balls like we saw earlier in the season.

Although Jones would be unlucky not to be playing but I think both Gravenberch and Dom have been two of the best this season.

Yeah, was thinking same re Gomez yesterda and id like to try Wirtz in a Thiago like role, playing deeper instead of been lost in the mess. I’d try something like:

I’d go old school 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 for a while, be solid and hard to beat to start with.

Same as loads of them tho - but he’s had barely any minutes on the pitch and has shown in the past that he can play RB well in both directions. We also need a bit more height out there - we are a diminutive team. We are lost in both full back positions so I’d try

Robbo has been better than Kerkez this season so I’d be looking to get his game knowledge positionally up to speed as the season plays out. Virgil was frequently raging at him on Sat as he was not in the positions we needed him to be when Virgil had the ball which was messing the shape up.

Swap wirtz and ekitike and thats a mf/attack i think would be better.

I agree we need players in the team for the time being who are prepared to work hard defensively (sorry Mo and Florian, but probably also sorry Cody unless he changes his spots back from this season to last). And players who are out of form need taken out of the 11 (sorry Macca and Ibou). That doesn't leave us with 3 fit offensive players, so I think a bit of a change in shape will be necessary. So something like...
Mama
Bradley, Gomez, VVD, Robbo
Szobbo, Grav (if fit), Endo, Jones (if fit)
Chiesa and Ekitike

And this is for next weekend...I'd bin the League Cup game to give us time to work on the changes.

And a change of mentality. At the moment too many players seem to have the attitude that scoring goals is all that counts...that needs to change to not conceding goals. Let's try to get a solid base first.

Far too worried about losing the ball, not brave enough to play risky balls for attackers to run onto. If our defence was tighter and not such a high line, then we wouldn't be so susceptible to a fast break. If the pass attempt doesnt come off then the midfield should be able to win the second ball.
