are we still pressing, or have we reverted to counter attack?

looks like tika taka has been shelved.
much prefer a more direct passing game, runners either side to give options, and pressing high up [front 3 and attacking mids] when we lose possession, defence covering.
brendan has realised we aint barca.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

We had a good ten minute spell against villa before they scored then stood off and only came out and played with urgency and pressing second half, just feel we aren't always getting a full ninety minute performance and our inability to deal with balls into the box either for or against is worrying!!Originally posted by Nigey View PostOur play is more varied.

That last sentence pretty much sums it up.Originally posted by Aj34 View PostI don't like the being labelled as playing any certain way. Surely it depends on who and where we are playing, being able to adapt to situations is the main thing. We have played some sublime football this year and some dross tbh.Oh I don't know.

Think it was more an expectant style due to what a so called Rodgers set up was supposed to be as he often spoke about but we realised quickly it wouldn't always work, we've mixed it up and got it horribly wrong at times but I think as you say it's worked well at times too..Originally posted by Aj34 View PostI don't like the being labelled as playing any certain way. you maybe right, but i think its more to do with the manager realising the chance of finishing in the top half might be slipping away from us.Originally posted by Nigey View PostAnd we certainly haven't abandoned the passing game or tikka-taka. It's probably a result of us growing into the manager's methods. It's called evolution.
all the lovely interplay and ball possession was not translating into goals scored and games won.
tika taka might be ok for barca, with a world superstar team but for us it needed a change...
the more direct, faster counter attack is what we do best. dont give teams time to get organised and get 10 men behind the ball, fast runners, variation and options. split them open before they get tight.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
