Keita , Goretzka and one other totally changes the dynamic of ours, them two will keep and move the ball better than all our present lot.

How many tackles does he win though or even steal possessionOriginally posted by SB View PostI agree but I also think that Wiji’s energy levels breaking up play higher up the field are valuable assets but he shouldn’t be a starter in our strongest X1.

I keep hearing the stuff about Goretzka supposedly joining us (which I really hope is true) but is it supposed to be us buying him in January or waiting until his contract expires? The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think he can start negotiations in January then we'd probably get him in the summer.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Goretzka would be an awesome purchase for us to make, but whilst he can play in the DM role (just as Keita can also do so), he is about as natural a box to box midfielder as you could hope to see (which is something else he and Keita have in common).
Basically both guys are at their best when they are allowed to just go with the flow of the game, and both tend to be players who want to go at the other team and who are very happy to chase the ball when they do not have it.
Said it in another thread, but if we had the two of them, then I would love to go all out for a quality deep sitting midfielder to play behind them. Be it a ball winning playmaker, or a more traditional shield to cover for when they both break forward.
Put someone like Saul or Jorginho into a midfield trio with Goretzka and Keita, and that would be a midfield full of power, pace, movement, interceptions, tackles, and mobility.
Even a short term solution of say someone like Masch playing behind them for a season or so would still see us upgrade to a massive degree in the centreI don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Diawarra also at Napoli - some options they have!Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostGoretzka would be an awesome purchase for us to make, but whilst he can play in the DM role (just as Keita can also do so), he is about as natural a box to box midfielder as you could hope to see (which is something else he and Keita have in common).

we were heavily linked with ruben neves but he might have been a little too young to make the jump.Originally posted by labourRed View PostGoretzka looks absolute class but I feel we also need Neves or someone of that ilk to sit behind, set the tempo and offer protection. We missed Dahoud but it appears we were at least looking at him.
Goretzka would be a real coup, but I think he'll go to Spain.
btw, wolves have only paid £5m up front of the £15m fee. a great talent and one to watch for sure.
lets hope if we dont get goretzka we at least have some other options, cant be pissing about like last year.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I don't think neves is setting the championship alight with Wolves, why would he be any better than what we have?Originally posted by labourRed View PostGoretzka looks absolute class but I feel we also need Neves or someone of that ilk to sit behind, set the tempo and offer protection. It’s not the only quality that’s needed for a midfielder you know. Using his energy levels as he does in harrying players into making mistakes etc is just as vital & passing the ball in a forward movement, unlike his captain, to get us going forward.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

The big worry for me about him is that Coutinho consistently beats him in the number of tackles won per match and Coutinho has an excuse because of the quality he gives going forwardBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. You sit & study & compare stats of Coutinho & Wijnaldum do you? Really or are you just making that up ? Genuine question by the way cause I just don’t see it.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont even think he passes the ball forward that much

I looked it up now, and it's true, Gini completes around 40 passes per game, almost half of them backwards and he wins 0,21 tackles per 90 minutes opposed to Coutinho who wins 1,58. He also doesn't score nor create chances......his chance creation is 0,83 but Jordan Henderson has 1,27.Originally posted by SB View PostYou sit & study & compare stats of Coutinho & Wijnaldum do you? Put Lallana in this team in place of Gini and you get more passes, more tackles, more chances created and more goals, we might see a big change when that happens, same is true of Emre as well. Of all our midfielders Gini has the fewest passes by far. He doesn't seem to impacting the games enough.Last edited by The_weatherman; 29-11-17, 09:15 AM.* The above is posted in my opinion.
