Hes a real enigma for me

I know what you are saying about him working hard and "getting into good positions" seems to be another thing people like to laud him for

To me hes a real enigma and what you see I clearly dont, hes by-passed to easily for me, goes missing in games, doesnt have enough of an effect further up the pitch and doesnt win you possession. But hey he runs around a lot (that is being facetious by the way!!)

What I have found interesting is that Coutinho has consistently been our most successful ball winner in midfield

That doesnt say much for Wijnaldum nor Henderson

Just seen this thread. I was saying that exact same thing in the Brighton match thread today. Wij is just too passive and a passenger in too many games for me - especially but not exclusively away from home. Not the type of player a title winning team has in midfield. If that’s not what we’re aiming for then we have forgotten who we are.

They're all producing. Coutinho and Mane have both had injury affected campaigns and there's a lot more to come from Sadio in particular.

Really great to see. For years we have had one or two at most dangerous players.

The only real question is whether we need a more physical presence to unsettle certain teams who park the list (such as United). I don't think Sturridge or Ings really fit our style and Solanke is still developing.

Put better quality in midfield and at the back, and we could well see our attacking players' stats improve even further.


Give us a backline and midfield that can withstand pressure, and we would have one hell of a team

Interesting. Mane and Phil are pretty prolific this season as well as Mane, Phil 9 in 12, and Sadio 7 in 12. Salahs numbers are just nuts.

Firmino is not going to get the same amount of goals, but his role is pivotal.
