At least it shows Klopp's here for the long term.
    Yep, we're already winning 2018.

I quite like the idea of signing players up a year in advance if they're not available now.
    Oh I don't know.

I can understand waiting for VVD (he wants us and we want him- it's a moral obligation now I feel) but I don't understand the Lemar episode.

Seems that we were genuinely in for him on Monday. It fizzled out over the coming days but apparently it had nothing to do with Coutinho staying.

I would just like to know for my own sanity why we didn't pursue him. He's class and with CL + PL and the fact that Sturridge, Lallana and Henderson are injury prone means that we could have done with another number, imo.

Disappointing we didn't get VVD, but considering how mad this window was, pounds per player, we must have did well compared to other clubs.

Salah- Massively under-priced. Worth more than double already.
Robertson- Seemed a fair price at the time, but if Hull were still in PL, he'd have went for a lot more, particularly as deadline day approached.
Solanke- Fee not agreed yet, but there is no doubt he'll be worth a lot more than we pay Chelsea.
Ox- Probably our most overpriced player, but when you add the English premium and consider we were competing with PL rivals, he was never going to come cheap.

Factor in the Keita deal and it's been a pretty decent summer. I think we've strengthened enough to consolidate our place in the top 4 and we should have enough to get through the CL group stages, when we'll have another opportunity to strengthen further in January.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Milner supposedly wanted to play CM and spent a season at left back

He didn't come because we promised to play him somewhere, he came because of our sexy manager.

He's a utility player, an excellent upgrade on Milner. As you say we.will see him pop up.everywhere. He isn't the proper central midfielder we need though.

The more I think about it, the I have a feeling that bridges with Southampton have been permanently burned. If that's the case, I don't think they'll sell him to us at any time soon.
            Oh I don't know.

Gini, Henderson, Lucas, Hammann were all attacking mids when we signed them.

Keita is the CM we need, Ox will provide good cover in plenty of positions.

Yes, but he's not here this season. I think our squad is a couple of players short of being able to maintain a title challenge. We only had a net spend of about 30m so we definitely had the money to get them. This season represented and an opportunity to win stuff and it's disappointing we haven't gone all out to try and do that. That's not just about the owners being tight or employing muppets like Edwards, it's also on Klopp.

agreed but he is an upgrade and certainly improves the squad.

I agree, with a few right additions (or one big Dutch one) I genuinely think we could have challenged on all fronts and stood a good chance of winning a major trophy. As it stands, I still think we'll give it a good go, ultimately fall short and maybe settle for one of the minor trophies.

Even if we spent £500m that window, it would still have been extremely hard to compete with the likes of City, Chelsea, United who have been spending that sort of money for years, so there are no guarantees we would have won anything anyway. As long as we see some progress on the pitch and we genuinely challenge for a few trophies, I'll be happy enough (for now).

Important to get the baby in now. Can will probably leave next summer, and getting in a replacement now was smart business. Keita might not be a direct replacement, but if we needed to go for him and a Can replacement next summer it would cost a lot more IMO. Selling clubs would smell desperation and price would go up.

On the signings we've made I go with an 8

I was expecting to get rid of Markovic who is nowhere near the squad and get a bit more for Sakho so on the sale side probably a 7

The failure to sign a CB is a problem for me and probably drags it down to a 6 overall
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'm actually not too bothered right now about the lack of cb signing. Notwithstanding injury, we have four competent cbs until January.

Two things justify my thoughts -

                              1. Leicester won the league with two groks.
                              2. It was our attack and midfield that came to a halt last season.

I'm very happy with our business but of course Lemar and VVD would have really made a statement.

A 6 for me, but that is because I am not including Keita. For me he is part of next summers incomings and on that score next summer is off to a flyer already with such a quality player coming then.

Am happy with the players we brought in this summer, but as others have already said the positions we failed to address are a bit of a let down.

But we do have the funds and come January we could bring in one or two players that turn the transfer windows for this season into something special so will be hoping for that.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
