Agree 100%.Originally posted by Irishnev View PostOn another night we could have scored 5 tonight....we had the clear cut chances and the opportunities. Anything is possible at Anfield we are about 1000/1 now but as Lloyd Christmas said......so you mean we have a chance
Messi’s freelick killed us, what a ****ing goal, he is such a difference maker when it REALLY matters. It’s Barca, at the Nou Camp, Messi in peak form and we got nothing from the ref - of course we didn’t help ourselves with the missed chances.
Gomez wasn’t great but not the cause of the loss, Trent would have had the same struggles defensively and we may have been giving out about him. We lost our composure in the midfield in the second half and didn’t use the ball as well as we could have. One of the lads said it but Salah and Mane missed BIG chances, chances Messi or Ronaldo don’t miss and it mattered. Milner missed a big chance as well......vs Bayern we got them and the momentum swung in our favor.
Two other gripes - our ****ing corners, just aim for VVD ffs. Why we didn’t target Lengelet after he was booked.....we was ripe for a red card.Modifying post.

100%. Keeper does this a lot to trent as well. Just puts them under pressure whilst shifting responsibility from himself.Originally posted by BootRoom View PostIt doesn't help when the keeper is floating high-balls out to Gomez, allowing opponents time while the ball is wafting in the air to close him down and get a challenge in.
He tries to be too clever.

The thing is though, you really can't just reduce those games to 'three games', like they're nameless, random games. They were crucial games, derbies, matches that we knew were an absolute must to win, either to grab the chance and run away from City, or to prevent them from further closing in on us. 'Cup finals', different to some of the earlier draws vs. Chelsea or Arsenal for example, when we knew that no matter the outcome we can still be there at the end. We absolutely spectacularly failed to perform in those games, despite showing throughout the season that we do have the quality to win all of them. It was **** mate, Leicester, West Ham, United and Everton in short succession. I don't know if that makes us bottlers or not, but you can't really call us massive winners after them, right? City gave us a gift at Newcastle, and IMMEDIATELY after we start to lose points. We give them the gift, doesn't look likely they'll drop it.Originally posted by Venton View PostSo three games over the season means we are bottlers? Tough standards there. I think there's a difference between being bottlers and failing now and again.
It's complicated, after the season we've had it's unfair to call us bottlers, but we don't really do ourselves any favours do we. Tonight, plenty of clear, almost easy chances to go into the return game with an away goal, maybe a draw even, instead we need to win 3-0 or more likely 5-1. In the league we couldn't stop the slump against clearly inferior teams, now we need to rely on rivals and mediocre-to-****e teams to take points off City.
This season, as great as some moments have been, has been ruined for me.

I don't get the fixation on Gomez. You could see it coming if we didn't get a result tonight. And right on cue...
It was obvious Klopp would rotate Trent. Gomez played well for someone who was out for so long, especially against this level of opposition. Wasn't guilty for any of their goals. Lost possession a few times in the second half, but he was far from poor.
Anyway, I still think we can take something out of this. Make the game wild and force them into mistakes. They can afford a few risks and let's hope they think it's all over. We can still do this. Are we winning?

Yeah kinda his job though, not a favour really? The reason we didn't have those two leading the line is that we signed him, not the other way around, and expected him to perform, not weasel his way out of the club every summer.Originally posted by Zapater View PostDon't really care about that, gave 100% on the pitch and won matches by himself. Otherwise we'd have the brilliant Andy Carroll leading the line being 'supplied ammunition' by Downing.

An absolute embarrassment of a performance. 3-0 down in a European semi is a disgrace, the players should be ashamed of themselves.
I can take a bit of Messi magic but to not score from those chances we created is unforgivable. We dominated most of the game and shat ourselves whenever they came forward. That was a ****ing joke, the mancs, city, chelsea and spurs fans will be pissing themselves at this.
We need a goal poacher, as mad as it seems with Salah and Mane scoring the goals they have, I'd never back either of them to put the ball in the net. Theres a video with Carragher and Mane at Melwood and Jamie slots home both chances of an open goal whilst Mane misses both. We desperately need a goal poacher, if we had one, we'd have the league wrapped up already. Salah seems to be a big game bottler.Last edited by fabinho; 01-05-19, 11:17 PM.Glass half empty club

I think derbies are weird ones that you just can't predict. And the last 20 games have all been crucial really. I agree that we should have gone for it against City though, and Utd. Tough job being a manager. Still can't agree we've bottled it, we've actually been magnificent. It's just that - so far - City have been right there with us and possibly better.Originally posted by Fuzzy View PostThe thing is though, you really can't just reduce those games to 'three games', like they're nameless, random games. Any news on Keita? I felt really sorry for him, he looked like he would massively influence our game tonight. Was an ugly yellow card challenge to.
Btw Barca are a despicable circus and I've hated them for years. Players on the ref every time something of significance happens. Vidal with the moment of the game for me, tried to stop Robertson running past him when the ball was elsewhere, clearly fouled him, then screamed at the ref for a foul even though the ref wasn't even looking at them. Messi, best player in history, does he really have to pull all that **** then? Kinda beneath him, someone would think. Disgusting team and there's no way I'm watching the final, as the outcome is either a win for a team of massive infected cunts, or Barca will pull that **** against Ajax and we all know how that ends.

It's not fair to say we're bottlers especially after tonight's performance. The run in the league has been very good.
But we do have a habit of coming up short in cup finals, derbies and in games that REALLY matter. Possibly just bad luck. Possibly the manager goes a little conservative. Maybe a bit of both. Frustrating is a massive understatement.
Hopefully we don't use our goals up at Newcastle. One nil will do.
Attack barca on Tuesday and if it's looking forlong, we **** them up hard. Smash Suarez in the teeth until they all fall out. ******.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

but that ****ing attitude drove us forward almost as much as his outrageous skill. No problem with him being the same guy now as he was then for me, I mean I don't like it but I'm not holding it against the sneaky little rat ****
