i think gakpo was drifting infield because nunez drifts wide a lot
Wasn’t that if anything unez was playing down the right channel for the period where he was involved a lot. Robbo has been playing well - had a decent game last night. Also when he came on v Brentford he adds pace and purpose.

First half Gakpo drifted inside and there was no one to occupy the right side of their defence. It’s all understandable as Gakpo has only had a few training sessions.

I’d say he has the potential to replicate that partnership.

    But - I’m sure you’ll have a pithy response

He was ok, not an amazing display but not a Gakpoo either. Signing him is all well and good but we are broken and his signing doesn't address our main issues and you would wonder if the money could have been prioritized elsewhere. That's nothing against Gakpo either just the reality of the situation if we are going to say that we don't have the money to buy a quality. midfielder.

Hopefully he is up to speed in a few weeks and kicks on and smashes it.

Hmm....I only saw Nunez go down the right once.

he's always hanging around down the left, even his goal came from the left side. Its been a trend of his since day one really.

Gakpo had a couple of nice link ups with Robbo, but Robbo's touch is poor a lot of the time lately. He's taking too many touches to get the ball under control and the defenders get set and then he has to pass sideways or backwards. Its happening a lot. Not having a midfielder that can carry the ball forward is hurting us big time as it just opens up so much space out wide and i front of the defense. You can see when Naby beats just one player how much space opens up in front of him.

Steady debut. Didn’t see anything to get excited about but equally didn’t look lost either.

It's difficult to judge him to be honest, the midfield behind him was terrible, so he wasn't as involved in the game as he should really have been. I think if Salah hadn't got the goal, then they probably contributed about the same, I feel that both could do much better, obviously we know what Salah is capable of, what Gakpo can do is an unknown.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I think Diaz coming in 12 months ago and tearing it up from the same position doesnt help my expectations of him. He looked dull as **** in comparsion.

Although to be fair Diaz came in to a side that was playing well and would go on to challenge for 4 trophies, Gakpo has come into a side that is playing **** and not far off crisis.

You can see those times in the first half where he drifted into an ‘inside left’ position which meant we had to go backwards.

                        He's massive also.

Probably his best performance last night. Thought he pressed really well and his link up play was decent.

Still it is a pretty slow start to his Liverpool career. He is definitely slower than I thought he was. I feel for him as he's joined us at a rough time. Hopefully he will get his first goal soon and kick on from there.

I can't believe how slow he is!

He might well be a good player but he doesn't really look like your typical explosive Klopp wide forward.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He helped by not giving the ball away in dangerous positions, allowing breaks against us. Some great flicks that actually worked but teammates letting us down by not capitalising on them. Scarily slow though but if he has goals in him then he can be our Firmino replacement.
