Don't think Slot connects with the crowd and the City , last year masked some of it, this season it's badly needed and just isn't there.

I just don’t see how he turns it around.. I honestly don’t think we’ll get anything from the next three games. It’s just not good enough. Anfield has gone from one of the most feared stadiums in Europe to the opposite. Last night showed imo showed lack of respect to the fans and understanding of the traditions of the club, not so much the team that started but the bench was disgraceful. There were kids there last night, probably their first game they had been to, looking forward to it for ages, parents who spent a fortune, travelling from all over to witness a match that was pretty much thrown. There is a way to lose, that wasn’t it. I really don’t want us to be the club that sacks their manager when the going gets tough but at the same time (and I hope I’m wrong) it all just feels inevitable. I just don’t think he ‘gets it’.

That's a really good post actually and I've never thought of it that way.

We absolutely threw the towel in but then again most of our fanbase does when it comes to the LC.

I'd have been devastated for my lads had they gone to that game in the hope of seeing their heroes only to end up watching that dross of a performance.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I especially agree with the part about the kids, and the parents who’ve forked out a few hundred quid to watch a game we were never going to win. I’d have been gutted. When the team was announced they must have been gutted - to not have one or two of the stars on the bench is a bit unforgivable - it’s a football match for **** sake. It’s supposed to be competitive and entertaining…

As for Slot. He suddenly finds himself in a position where he has a lot to prove. I honestly did not see that coming.

Only we could **** up a £400m spend. It’s been the chat of the forums since pretty much forums exist. We finally do it. And we go on the most hideous run.

We are also at danger of ruining a fantastic kit.

I don’t think the £400m spend is necessarily the issue going forward. Top quality setups only reach their potential with top-quality people in key roles. Right now we have the setup, the squad is more than capable, but maybe not the person to fully bring it to life. That said, there is another part of me that feels this criticism is a bit harsh. He’s come from a league that’s nowhere near the level of the Premier League and still managed to achieve something nobody expected. He clearly has talent, potential, and a lot to learn, which is fair enough. But the reality is that Liverpool isn’t really the kind of club where you learn on the job, not these days. When these snowballs start to roll, they don’t usually stop, unfortunately.

Agree - we’ve signed good players and we sold a lot. As mentioned it’s Slots job to get a tune out of them and that’s the bit that is currently a bit concerning. It’s a monumental week for him as he needs to keep the match day crowd onside so the next week is so important to the rest of our season. He has to stop the rot. He has to show us something that we all thought was there already. That he is a good coach and that he can improve players - like he did with Grav. It’s all totally baffling.

Can anyone more suited to looking at stats dig our Slot’s time at Feyenord? Like season stats/form and see if his time there was all plain sailing or saw similar downturn of results which then were sorted out?

Could be interesting to see if he’s had tough times before and managed to get out of it!

Just checked wiki…he’s not had these many league losses in a row before!
                      > could be positive and think he will turn this around or flip side no previous experience how to snap out of similar situation.
                      > must know what he’s doing if he’s had 3 pretty good years of results!

You can see the results on wiki by entering Feyenoord 21/22 season, 22/23 etc there is a fairly well put together format showing wins draws and losses split by competitions.

From a cursory glance he has never had a spell of results like this. To be honest his league results there look pretty incredible.

He’s got the ability as a coach as he showed last season but maybe what’s lacking is a bit more experience especially a really tough time in his career that would help him through this. He’s not had to deal with something like this and to learn on the job at Liverpool isn’t ideal.

I know they wanted a young coach and you can see why he was picked but showing you can manage in difficult circumstances should be part of the criteria. I’m sure I remember it being mentioned before that it was something they looked for in a coach.

It’s new territory for him, I don’t think he’d lost two games in a row before this season….i thought I read that. In his first summer at Feyenoord they actually had a bigger turn over than us and he went into the second half of the season a bit behind PSV, then it clicked and they won the league.

The thing is that every team in the PL can hurt you, I genuinely don’t think that exists anywhere else. The second big factor is the style and as we’ve been saying we cannot handle physical football and that’s a big big issue

I think that the problem is that Klopp did get the club and the fans and the connection was there and was intense and unique. No-one else in recent memory had both the connection and the energy of Klopp. Losing that was always going to be losing something special, and whoever came in had huge shoes to fill and it was always going to be 'a bit stepdad' as you put it. I don't think that this is really Slot's fault, it's more the fact that he's not Klopp.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
