Thats actual insanity when you think about it. All Diaz wanted was a better contract.

I’d say sticking with a back four that doesn’t work an centre back pairing where Konate is now staging Virgil down with him and is putting the team under absolutely incredible amounts of pressure has to change.

But ultimately (and as much as I do like him) the main thing that has to change is the leader. I reckon he gets West Ham and if that doesn’t turn into a remarkable winning run (and even if we win it won’t) then he is toast.
Did you see Mo's effort for that second goal? Pathetic. Just watched that guy ghost straight past him into a gaping midfield.

How can so many players drop their levels of performance and all at the same time. It’s not like one or two are out of form the whole squad has gone to ****.

The new players don’t look like they know their roles and what to do. I saw a clip with someone talking about Wirtz and showing him defending and he didn’t know when to press or where to be. His defensive stats from Leverkusen were excellent.

You could say the whole team doesn’t know what they’re meant to be doing this season. That’s down to the manager and his coaches. The message isn’t getting across or the team isn’t buying into it.
Cheisa is performing too, but he gets punished for it. Slot is an absolute cunt the way he's treated Chiesa. The guy shows more energy and passion out there than anyone. You could see how much he tries and how frustrated he is. Im sure Slots lack of man-management skills (typical Dutch manager) don't go unnoticed by the squad and is a key reason they all look like they couldn't care less at the moment.

Yup Chiesa and Endo getting limited time when both should be getting significantly more minutes right now is so frustrating. It’s got to be causing problems behind the scenes. You put in the effort and get zero reward while seeing the same players doing the same thing and getting picked over and over.

I know Klopp had favourites but he used everyone in the squad and trusted them all. It might be the emotion at the moment but it feels like all the work Klopp and Henderson did to build the team spirit and trust in the squad and the connection to the crowd is being stripped away.

              I did.

But our defending has been atrocious since the first game of the season in all bar maybe one or two games.

The errors are individual at times and system others. I don’t think effort is an issue.

I don’t think the players know what they are supposed to be doing.

Even Wirtz who was signed specifically for his ability to both press and be press resistant seemed to be struggling.

Part of me wonders if they are almost being over coached? When the messages become so many and so frequent they almost become meaningless. We change system multiple times within games to the extent that maybe the team literally do not know what they are supposed to be doing.

It's been that way all season other than the two games we seemingly went back to last seasons set up....and voila we looked great and had two solid wins. Then he goes straight back to this new set up and we get absolutely ****ed up.

Like does he want to get sacked? Is that it?

Copy and paste post 3 days ago.

To salvage some goodwill he just needs to show he's not stubborn and/ or an idiot which I think is most people's problem with him through this. If we lost at least we would have gone down fighting and trying something.

Feels pretty obvious but he keeps choosing to do the opposite, without any explanations for those choices and here we are feeling how we all feel.

The club need to fire him tomorrow or at his next press conference there must be an attempt to explain our way out of this. Must be some transparency on the decision making process.

At the end of the day, let’s call this what it is: an absolute disgrace. The players are the ones causing this mess. They’re on the pitch, they’re the ones switching off, they’re the ones jogging back like it’s a pre-season friendly, yes it’s the manager who will rightly end up being held responsible. He’ll be the one who loses his job while some of these lads walk away untouched.

Because honestly, looking at some of those performances last night… embarrassing doesn’t even cover it. How dare they pull on a Liverpool shirt and put in that little effort? No intensity, no pride, no fight. Konaté defending like my 7-year-old and at least a 7-year-old has an excuse. Apart from Dom, who was the only one showing any real desire or quality, the rest were an absolute disgrace.

This isn’t all about tactics. This isn’t all about systems. This is about attitude. And too many of them clearly don’t have the right one. They are a disgrace.

And for the record, I never wanted Díaz to be sold. It makes you wonder if he were Dutch, would it have been Gakpo shipped out instead? And Nunez got some stick around here, but he had more fight and effort on his own than this entire team combined last night.

I don't think anyone is doubting the players have to take some responsibility for their own performances, but the manager keeps playing players who have been consistently ****, tactically they don't look like they know what to do pressing wise for example, which is down to the manager and coaches. I have also mentioned this before but I hate the decision that Salah doesn't have to work back, because tactically other teams have worked it out but perhaps more importantly it sets a bad example to the new players we signed. If new signings see your best player has to put a shift in they know they have to too, if they see that he doesn't they will think why should I bother. And I think that is part of the problem too many players (not just new ones) aren't putting in the hard yards, too many are pulling out of 50:50s. Sorry but half the players in the side I wouldn't want to go into battle with.

Beyond that there is a system/recruitment mismatch. You look at Kerkez and Frimpong last season you assume they we signed them because they are attacking fullbacks who get forward and provide width, but we aren't using them like that. Wirtz looked like a great player but I'm not sure we needed a #10, but spending that kind of money you expect to build a team around him and Isak but none of that has happened. Surely there were discussions about why we were targeting these players and how we would play. I'd be more forgiving of results if we had overhauled the way we are playing, but we haven't really we are more or less playing the same system and have spent a load of money to make it less effective, and that isn't just on the manager.

The situation with Jota though is a huge mitigating factor, we don't know how these guys are dealing with that. It is clearly going to have an effect on them.i thought Slot and the club handled it really well in the summer, and on the back of winning the title you were thinking we had the right man in charge, but suddenly everything that he was doing well last year has gone to ****, can't really explain it other than linking back to Jota's death in the summer and so many people not being in the right headspace because of it. After Robertson's interview about Jota and the WC it's clear that he is still in their thoughts regularly

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I honestly can’t wait for AFCON to see what we look like in attack.
If there is a clause then I'm roundhousing a few on here who called it ridiculous when I suggested it but who've remained quiet since it's gained traction

@ exile re Jota, personally I don't think it's got anything to do with it.

It is about tactics and it is about systems, and it's about lack of defensive personnel and choice of signings. None of that is the fault of the players, it's off field decisions.

I agree with what you’re saying, but last night proved it’s not just tactics or systems or recruitment. Those things matter, sure, but they don’t excuse players jogging back, switching off, or showing zero desire. You can have the perfect system in the world and it still collapses if half the team can’t be bothered to put a shift in. Defensive personnel and signings are an issue, but the bare minimum is effort, intensity and pride in the shirt. That part is 100% on the players, and too many of them are hiding behind excuses.
