Xabi can't bring brain cells for Konate.

The point about Wirtz is a good one though. If he is his football soulmate, then lfc might think he is the guy to make Flor a genuine ballon dor contender.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Konate was epic last season. Said this before but players don't just forget how to play football, there has to be a reason why elite, top of their game footballers look like Sunday league stars all of a sudden

              To do a fair appraisal on Slot, then the following has to be recognized;

              1. Lfc have been left down by a lot of the senior pros this year - namely Salah, Virgil, Konate, Macallister as the main offenders. There has been a big fall off in the form of Gravenberch as well compared to last season. And Gakpo hasn't exactly stepped up either.
              2. The new additions have not been integrated quickly. That wouldn't be such an issue if #1 above wasn't so impactful. But it has. Isak has been a ****in nightmare. So if Slot put his cock on the block and really pushed for Isak, then he will have to carry some of that burden. But if Isak was more of a "committee" signing, then the blame might be shared. I reckon he will be sold within 2 years for something similar to what Nunez went for. Again though, if #1 wasn't such a cluster****, then the impact of Isak being a bag-of-****e wouldn't be felt.
              3. We didn't sign Guehi. What a difference this would have made. Not Arnes fault I don't think
              4. We have been very unlucky with injuries. Leoni on his debut ffs. Also, Frimpong and Bradley both at the same time. ****in nightmare. Also, Allison with his annual autumn break.
              5. The passing of Diogo. Hugely impactful to all of the squad.

So while Slot hasn't exactly torn it up this year, the above points are not his fault. So be careful what you wish for!! Personally I think a lot of his tactical moves this season have not been fantastic but it is easy to say that sat at home watching it on tv. After the Madrid and Villa games, I was sure that we were going to go on a bit of a run, beat Forest, West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds and then try to build some momentum. Had we won all of those games, then we would be 3 points behind Arsenal.

There is a problem with the team when they face adversity but against Forest we started pretty well. Macallister should have put us ahead. And then Konate ****in gave away a stupid corner. Against Leeds, we were flying and Konate ****ed it. He has gone so ****e that it is on Slot now if he keeps picking Konate. But again, we don't have the advantage of all of the data on Gomez.
I think that's a fairly fair assessment and more or less where I am with things at the moment. I think not having a CB coming in Guehi or someone else was madness - I appreciate the situation changed quickly at the last minute but we shouldn't have left ourselves in this position.

Regarding Isak I believe all player signings and contracts etc are made by the team of which Slot is a part of, so it was largely their decision but he approved of it. But if you ask any manager if they want one of the two best CFs in the league I very much doubt anyone would say no...

I wouldnt give him more than until christmas to turn it around. If he fails to wina game before them then he isnt up to it and will lose the fans and players.

Apart from 2 new full backs, most of our problems have been tactical in the way we have defended and protected the backline. Slot has to take that responsibility as he changed our setup, and it was clear that it was an absolute ****show, nobody playing or watching could work out what he was trying to do. He can salvage this, but it starts with the setup, and to be fair we have improved

So you think Konates form is down to tactics now??? For me it is obvious that slot has tried to tell him to keep it simple. That worked against West Ham. And Sunderland. And then went out the window against Leeds.

I don't think you can put konates individual errors on slot to be honest.

Maybe Konate has some other **** going on? Maybe it's his contract situation that is playing on his head? Is this the reason he looked prime Ibou against Madrid?? Because he wanted to impress them? But he has looked ****in ****e since.....is he worried that he will get injured before he can sign a pre- contract in Jan and that could potentially scupper his pay day? Maybe Virgil isn't directing traffic back there as much as last year and Konate is ****e as a result?? Maybe (probably) it is a combination of all of the above.

Also, he was brilliant last year but he wouldn't be the first pro whose form has fallen. Off a cliff either. We have about 3 or 4 of them in our squad at the moment. We've seen Henderson and fabinho a few years ago too. Dele Alli is probably the one that was most drastic.....went from potentially being signed by real Madrid to going on loan to Turkey from Everton.

I think Konate has been coasting in terms of concentration. It might be Madrid, it might be staying fit and fresh for the World Cup, it might be not having to cover for Trent, maybe a bit of all three.

Think it's crazy to think Alonso would come here mid season to this rabble.

I'd like to see Harv and DP given a go.

                              Yes, I would.
