The good news is he got back up and could bend and put weight on his knee. This suggests that at least he hasn't ruptured any ligaments.
A gash on the knee would induce huge swelling and after a while not allow him to bend or weight bare on it. I doubt he'll play against Fulham but hopefully he hasnt damaged ligaments and will be back for the game after.
I split my knee open to the bone and was in agony, and on crutches, for a week and couldnt put any weight on it at all. A month later i was on a footballing trip to Austria and just about managed to play the second half of our last game, albeit not fully fit.
Lucas' gash is nowhere near as bad as mine was.

I don't think it's as easy to say as that right now. He did go back down again and stay down, needing the stretcher. I'm afraid that his reaction may well have said it all as he was going off.
Adrenaline would easily explain being able to put wait on it for 30-60 seconds.

Well done everyone tonight. I will have the scan to see how bad is my injury... Just send positives energy and I hope won't be to bad.

I got to page 8 and guessed that was enough for an accurate representative sample. I think John Aldridge must have chimed in somewhere along the way.
"In his first season with us he was awful and I didn’t even see shades of a player. But since then he has blossomed. Rafa Benitez bought him and showed a lot of faith in him. Roy Hodgson and Kenny Dalglish kept playing him."
