I personally would't like to see any of them being sold. They are not my first choice but they are decent enough to be back-ups + we do need more depth.

Only way I would entertain that idea of them being put on the chopping block would be to get more quality over them, which is very unlikely given our current financial woes.

      Perhaps Purslow hates South Americans?

He has to improve on mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Possibly "The Fig" for Aurelio and if Insua goes, at least on more LB needed.

If this article is true, it will confirm my fears that Hodgson is indeed a puppet.

Exactly. Plus, given how Purslow seems to base his decisions on what his journo mates tell him, its no surprise that its the more scapegoated/underrated/ players he's looking to flog off cheaply.

I really dont want our transfer strategy effectively dictated by the media.

Everything we hear about Purslow these days isn't very comforting, is it?

Imagine how bad it would be if he didn't have mates in the media.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

The thing is who knows which players may have become more important under Roy? We had little squad depth last season and selling off players we do have certainly won't help. It puts Purslows comments that no one would be sold before a new manager arrives, if, as you say, the way it is reported is accurate.

For once he didn't lie, he just gave a maliciously misleading impression. He's getting better.

It's a big ask for Roy to play left back for us for a whole season.
                      Oh I don't know.

We shouldn't be selling either Insua or Lucas because we aren't going to improve on either of them with the resources available.
Keep them both as squad players who start 15 or so games a season, they're both still youngsters after all at 22/23

FFS this is a joke, Purslow in control of transfers

                          Bring back Parry I say

In all seriousness I think we need to hang on to both Lucas and Insua, they might not be the most popular players in the squad but given the funds we'll likely have I can't see us being able to get better with the fees we'll receive.

I don't have a problem with El Zhar going but I would hardly class Lucas and Insua as fringe players given Lucas played 45 games for us last year and Insua 42 games.

Insua is currently our only senior left back and Lucas is a likely replacement for Mascherano if he leaves.

Decent back ups and that is it for me. Neither Insua or Lucas are goo enough for the LFC first team in my eyes. So maybe a case could be argued that selling them wouldn't be the end of the world.

It is a great shame when someone like Mascherano leaves as he is one of the best in the world at what he does and an automatic starter at the club. When a player who would only be back up in my first choice team leaves, I'm hardly going to be upset.

And keeping someone who isn't good enough just because we are short on players doesn't make sense, not when we can get £5m or £8m for them.

I am genuinely of the opinion that we could get someone better than both Insua and Lucas for the prices mentioned, or at most have to shell out a couple of million on top to assist purchasing a player who would be good enough for our first team.

Take Insua, I would happily sell him for £5m and then spend £7m on Figouroua (sp). Insua is not good enough to play Left back, lacks a yard or two of pace and lacks the positional sense. He also not strong on the ball. In an ideal world I'd keep Insua to see how he progresses, but in the financial situation we are at present we can't afford to gamble on potential too much.

Because there is a feeling with Insua that he may NEVER be good enough to play LB.
