His performance didn't surprise a few of us, but the majority look suitably shocked (ahem Reece). He's been playing like that all season whenever he's had the chance and not put next to Gerrard.
But if Stevie's going to play against Chelsea then please God no, don't play Lucas. His performance WILL drop 40%.One tit for another.

Gerrard>Lucas overall in that position
Lucas>anyone else in that position
Lucas + Gerrard in the same midfield = utter turd
Unfortunately, since his injuries have taken their toll, he's effectively Gerrard's understudy in the team now. He's still bloody good though, and I'd keep him as long as he's happy being rotated. I would rotate him more than we do at the moment though, for his and Stevie's sakes.

they all drop 40%. He is impossible to cover for
No, i Think introducing Gerrard at the 60 min mark is brilliant. Thats how we should use Gerrard right now. Its a game changer. Even more so in PL.

The game is just faster and more fluid when Lucas wins the ball and within half a second passes the ball to the nearest person. Stevie, rightly or wrongly, wins the ball, looks up for a long pass, thinks better of it, look sideways, then passes. Just slows everything down.
City are/were using Lampard on the 60 minute mark with deadly effect. Not sure Stevie will allow that to happen sadly. One tit for another.

I would have agreed with you a season ago with a certain Luis in our team...not so sure now..imo lucas is best suited to that DM role..as clearly it hasn't worked so far this year with stevie. ..he at least needs that chanceOriginally posted by DannyMan2006 View PostIf I wanted to defend for ninety minutes then Lucas would be my man. If I wanted to win the game I'd go for Gerrard.

Allen is the most neutral player I have ever seen wearing a Liverpool shirtOriginally posted by G View PostYep, he won't but I'd start him on Sunday. Him and Can were very good. Allen less so on the passing front but good work rate.
Doesnt do enough defensively for me and doesnt effect the play attacking wise
The constant side to side & backwards passing and being knocked off the ball drives me ****ing mad

Lucas has to start. I've forgotten what it's like to have an intelligent midfielder in there!
With regards to Allen, I think we need another solution long term but at the moment I would start him and pack the midfield. I'm sick and tired of teams slicing through our non-existent midfield. It's time to get tough and move forward from there because we don't have the firepower we did last season at the moment.

At home to Chelsea and you would put Lucas in when he's so slow, gives freekicks away in stupid positions and plays at least 3 hospital passes per game that get us in all sorts of problems?? He was very lucky to get away with a few passes last night, very lucky.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostLucas has to start. Joe Allen does a job, but what actually annoys me is how utterly useless he becomes when he finds himself in some fantastic attacking positions. I still have not forgiven him for that miss v Everton last season.
