Can is a very exciting prospect and I can't wait for him to settle in (probably by late December). But right now I've seen worrying trends with him as DM that will see us punished against Hull.

Lucas has the nous, and now finally some legs, to play in that position in Gerrard's absence. Last time he did that he was quite good. I'd play Can DM against Swansea in the cup where losing isn't such a big deal.

We cannot afford to drop league points though. Paramount importance.

I agree. He's an unknown in that position. From the little I've seen of him I'm not sure he's got the discipline to play there anyway, seems to like going box to box too much to just sit.

I still think that's what he's being groomed for though. We'll see.

I could see him start in midfield alongside Henderson, we just need to push forward a bit more and apply some pressing. Gerrard is a cert as usual so IMO Henderson, Gerrard, Can with Coutinho infront of them is way to go.

That would be ideal.

He'll be fresh and raring to go for the next league match and then Real Madrid again. But one match at a time, must rest Gerrard for the Hull game.

Yeah, give Gerrard a rest and play a midfield of Can, Allen and Henderson. Maybe Can, Henderson and Coutinho, or even Can, Henderson and Lallana.
