ridiculous to sell. He's getting sharper with each game. Gives Henderson license to roam forward.

Selling our only DM would be stupid. IMO in our current system he should be the first name of the team sheet...vital.

Lucas for me is one of the most important players right now. Eventually I hope that we go back to the diamond formation (or something very similar)and for me Lucas is a great guyot sit in the DM role in that formation.....

I wouldn't sell him in the summer either. What if any new midfielder takes too long to settle???keeping Lucas all of next season at least wouldn't be a bad idea.

He's quietly turned around Brendan's season, coming in and effectively looking after the dunderheads in central defence behind him, using his ability to knick the ball away from the opposition and playing sensible passes to retain possession. He simply has to stay - he's doing a captain's job in front of the defence just now and is making Brendan look all the more silly for limiting his game time (as is Gerrard, but for proving he can still do more than a job further forward).

We've lost once in our last 12 games. Lucas has played in eleven and missed the one we lost.

He's nowhere near the level he was pre injury.

And tbh in that Spurs away game where we won 5-0 I think Gerrard was in the studio and Lucas played and he was first class. I don't think Lucas has been poor, I just think last season we needed Gerrard to launch our attacks from deep and helped the team score countless goals. It meant the defence struggled but the pros outnumbered the cons.

This year, it's a different story. We can't rely on out scoring the opponents. Old Trafford away was the perfect example. Created loads but still couldn't score. Today could have been similar. So now we need a protector. And whilst Lucas will never be the player he was, he's still better than Gerrard at holding.
