To leave him in the wilderness is insane if you ask me. 10 goals from midfield and a key player in a our great form last season...and he's ditched. Don't get it. Can cover right or left and has more game intelligence than pretty much anyone in the side.

You may have a point there dude but, i think he played quite well when he playedOriginally posted by ronanm View PostWhatever it is about him (probably no pace, which he lost through injury over the years), he has always seemed like someone who's just filling a gap until someone better comes along. Downing has.
especially, in the last few games of last season

Fair point. I do think though that when things are going well, he's effective. But when they're not, he just seems to go through the motions.Originally posted by RedSince1964 View PostYou may have a point there dude but, i think he played quite well when he played

But he can't create **** when he's stuck out wide. Might as well not play him in that case.Originally posted by Shaggy View Post

It's insane to not have him on the bench, especially when Ngog's taking up a space. With Kuyt sub or out wide he can act as a back up striker. Maxi's link up with Suarez (and Kuyt and Meireles) was invaluable last season. He's very intelligent, keeps the ball (something we couldn't do to save our lives in the 2nd half on Saturday), gets into the box and takes up smart positions (hence the glut of goals). Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Very well said.
10 goals in the league last year from someone who was a bit-part player is massively impressive. He's got no pace but he's composed on the ball, a goal threat and a very clever player. Him, Suarez and Kuyt linked up really well towards the end of last season so it's incredibly harsh keeping him out of the squad.
