Think it's a sensible decision.
He's been great these last couple of matches but 90k a week for a bit part player is a bit much.
Will be remembered as a true club legend and a great role model for kids coming through the system. For a fairly limited player technically to have played over 700 times for us (2nd most appearances after Callaghan?) is truly remarkable and speaks volumes about his mental strength and desire. For a couple of seasons he was one of the best defenders in the world and helped create some of my most cherished football memories.
So thanks Jamie and

That's a sensible move anyway, cracking defender and we were linked with him under Rafa.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostFernando Amorebieta will be available on a free in the Summer. Sign him up
Deffo. As Oliver Kay said - he was, for a time, one of the best defenders in Europe without question.Originally posted by RedProf View PostBest CB partnership of the modern era - the Hyypia/Carragher. Was sad to say farewell to Sami, it will be even sadder to part with Jamie.

Apart from my less than annual trips to Anfield as a kid with my Dad (we did more aways
), I really started going to Anfield with any sort of semi-regularity in about 1998, becoming increasingly regular from the turn of century. So I've never really known Anfield without it reverberating to the sound of Carra screaming his head off. It won't be the same without him.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Same here.

I'm not sure he can do a Giggs and go on until 40 but his new training routine (ie, having longer off from training after matches) certainly seems to be helping and he says he feels fitter than he ever has done.Originally posted by Gingawaria View PostMakes me think we might only have 2-3 years left of Stevie too. Unless he does a Giggs!
I think 35 is doable, anything after that would be a pure bonus.
So sad to think that both will retire as some of the best, most influential players the club has ever seen and yet neither will know the joy of winning the league. Gerrard easily the best Captain to never win a league title.

Sickening he's never going to be a league winner. Will be weird without him, probably the best time to go out though, leave it much longer and theres always a danger you end up shot to bits and a liability. He's adapted so well to what Rodgers wants too, on the verge of retirement yet still willing to learn!
