Judging from MOTD only, and ignoring the miss, I thought Torres looked really good. Very clear reminders of the stuff he used to do for us actually. And lets not forget that even at his best for us he often drifted out of games for long spells, gave the ball away etc... If Villas Boas can start getting the best out of him we'll be all crying into our beer and calling him a cunt even more. And for the first time yesterday, it looked like a possibility.

I'd be able to laugh at Torres' continued woes if it wasn't for the fact that our replacement for him is doing his best to prove he was also a massive waste of money.

He looked dangerous yesterday though,it will come good if they continue to play to his strengths.

There's no doubt Torres looks miles better than Carroll at the moment.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He looked sharp yesterday, flashes of what he used to be.

He'll start banging them in again soon, that miss however was truly awful.

WTF was that about, right in front of them cunts as well. What a plonker.

Heard all this he looked rubbish a few times before since he moved. Yet the next game he's back to his old sulky self, unable to hit a cow's backside with a banjo. He's finished at the highest level and the sooner he clears off back home the better. I can't even want Chelsea to beat utd when he's there, the massive prick.

He's 22 FFS. How do you know how good he can/will be?

Shearer was far from the finished article at 22 as well, but he didnt do too badly.

Shearer turned 22 in the August he joined Blackburn, and had a superb season for them that year. And continued to do so in future seasons. Before that though, his goal record was very mediocre and noticeably worse than Carroll's.

Carroll's current career stats: 107 appearances, 37 goals (slightly better than 1 in 3)
Shearer's before Blackburn: 158 appearances, 43 goals (slightly better than 1 in 4)

Shearer was like Torres at Ath Madrid. The Potential was there to be seen, they had it all. Some Big Club just needed to take a chance. Carroll lacks pace and the ability to carry the ball or keep the ball for longer than 5 seconds.

Taking the Spurs game as an example. In the 1st half, he got passed the ball, controlled it, turned. Touched it again, with such a piss poor touch that the ball moved 3 yards away from him into no-mans land with a spurs player coming in fast. To save face he slides towards the ball into the incoming Spurs player and draws a foul.Less than 5 seconds. Watch.
