If he'll sign for a reasonable salary and be happy with a similar role, at least initially, to what he has at City, then I'm with Birdman, it's an obvious yes.

The one difference between us and city is that if he plays well at LFC he'll keep his place. He might be up for that.

The Mirror tonight reports James Milner is set to reject a move to Arsenal for a chance to play at Anfield next season. According to the report the 29-year old midfielder will join Liverpool on a free transfer.

David Anderson says it is understood Milner will choose Liverpool as his next destination because he believes he will have more playing time in centre midfield.

Milner who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the past few weeks will officially decide his future after the final game of the season.

Mirror says Liverpool are prepared to offer Milner £100,000-a-week which would make in one of the top earners at the club.

James Milner won't be the only midfielder brought at Anfield this summer as Brendan Rodgers is looking to fill the void left by Steven Gerrard when he leaves for LA Galaxy.

Talking about Gerrard today, Brendan Rodgers said the door is open for him to come back as a coach after two years:

"Steven is leaving here as a player but it’s certainly not permanent."

“When his playing career is over, he’s someone I’d love to work with if it’s coaching he wants to go down. That opportunity for him to come back will always be there as long as I’m here.”

“It’s a long road. Look at Pep Guardiola, he didn’t go straight into management. He travelled the world and learned. Then he went into the B team at Barcelona and then made the step up and made an incredible impact.

Milner is better technically than most people give him credit for. He isn't just a work horse.

I'm a fan of the lad but he seems to have gone off the boil a bit, maybe the move will do him good. Where would he fit into the team this though?

I think that a diamond formation midfield with Emre Can (sometimes Lucas) at the base, Milner and Henderson in the middle and Coutinho at the tip would have loads of energy in the middle of the pitch. Milner and Henderson would be perfectly suited to playing box to box but also covering their full backs bomb on.

Add some firepower and we aren't that far away from challenging..... The difference to our team / squad when comparing them to our rivals, is that with our young players at the club, we are surely going to get better!!!

Delighted if he's agreed to come to us. He sounds boring, and has a boring name, but if he was called James (Hamez) Milnero, we'd be jizzing ourselves.

I mentioned not too long ago about where Milner would fit in. A diamond is probably the best best, but I don't think it's beyond Rodgers to try Milner in a defensive midfield position, considering Milner's age. He has all the energy to bomb forward and back with Henderson.

A diamond would fit Milner, Henderson, Can and Coutinho in their favoured positions in the middle though.

Good, versatile player. You don't play regularly for city if you're ****

Think Milner will be a smart signing. Versatile, well rounded and consistent. We can't break the bank on every player we get, it makes sense to maximise our funds available for bringing in goalscorers.
