Perhaps in the short term but long term, playing Henderson means we can keep learning and gelling using our new system.

He will improve aft a few games and confidence in the system grows.

IMO we should use Hendo more sparingly and give him a bit part role to bed and settle in. Kuyt is either brilliant or awful, no inbetween but IMO he is much more effective both offensively and defensively than Hendo.

IMO starting with Kuyt and bringing Hendo on for 20 mins, see if the lad can make more of an impact and gain some much needed confidence, and progress that way.

I just don't think we can afford to experiment too much. We need a good start to the league to get that feel good factor and expectation back into the club.

I can't believe that Kuyt has been dropped in favour of Henderson. Kuyt had a great season last year and helped the team with plenty of match winning goals.

Kuyt is sometimes ineffective when we have lots of the ball and struggle to break down defenses but I haven't seen anything form Henderson that says he can do any better. Hendo has a better first touch and better/crisper passing game than Kuyt ever has or will. (even I come close to having a better first touch than Kuyt ). I like Dirk but he has his weaknesses too. Technical ability isn't one of them though.

I'm not writing Henderson off and I do hope he comes good but for the sake of the team the lad should be dropped in place of someone who is more deserving. Maxi is definitely worth a shout just coz he can score goals and seems to get along with Suarez.

As for Carroll I've seen enough of his left boot to understand why he should get an extended run in the team. Its frustrating that he's slow and dwells too much on the ball but hopefully this is down to a lack of fitness. And as long as we put it on a plate for him he will get his fair share of goals.

I agree with a lot of the guys who have stated that Hendo is generally taking the easy option very often, although I would say his awareness of the simple pass is very good. He generally finds feet and while he isn't splitting defences, it is very hard for the opposition to score when they can't get the ball of us. As his confidence rises so will the risks he takes when moving the ball...

I think replacing him with Kuyt would be a mistake. We need to focus on getting a better passing game going and the role Henderson has fulfilled in the games I have seen is to ferry the ball from deep to higher up the pitch and to help ensure others on the ball always have an easy option. Kuyt is poor in deep areas. I'd persevere with Henderson personally but if we do decide to drop him I think Maxi is a more natural replacement.

With Meireles out I think Henderson is a nailed on starter for the next few games though.

We all know battlelines have been drawn over signing Henderson and some of those who feel he's doing OK will necessarily have voted for him because they want him to have played well.

In the same way I wonder how many of those who voted for Wilson are Scottish. To use the jargon, I'd bet he noticeably overindexes on Scottish votes.

Surely the right way to read that poll is that all votes that weren't for Suarez were effectively just noise on the signal. Not sure there are any conclusions other that Suarez is good and popular that can be drawn.
