Whilst we're on the subject of transfer fees, does anyone know how the Aquilani deal was structured?

It's no wonder that FSG have put a certain amount of pressure on BR to reduce wages. He's had to deal with the legacy of past mistakes (poor free transfers with high wages, poorly negotiated new contracts and just poor transfers). The boy's done well

He's certainly improving is Hendo but one thing he lacks is tacking, he presses well but he can't tackle for **** and I mean slidy tackles. Mind you hardly any of our team can bar Gerrard, Skrtel and possibly Sakho none of them can execute a well timed sliding tackle.

Could be they've been given instructions on not to slide in perhaps and not to 'munch' people. See I love a good hard sliding challenge, think it fires your team mates up as well as the crowd.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

I don't think slide tackles are a necessity. Would much rather he worked on his finishing.

              I once saw Igor Biscan's tackle - wasn't a pretty sight

I think, nowadays, most footballers are told not to 'dive in'. I noticed Sakho doing it on his debut (against Swansea) but he's been much better since.

I think Allen, Coutinho, Sterling and Henderson need to work on their finishing.

Yep, we need more goals from midfield.

                  Allen: 0
                  Henderson: 1
                  Coutinho: 2
                  Sterling: 3

£13m rising to £16m was the common consensus from those close to the club at the time, rather than the £20m the red top bull****ters all ran with.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                          3 from Gerrard an'all.

Deffo an area we need to improve in.

Do Sterling and Coutinho count as midfielders? I thought they generally have played as part of a front 3.

And since we have a front 3 and only 3 midfielders most times I think its understandable to get less goals from midfield, although I agree that we need more goals from 'the other 7' that play behind the from 3.

However we define players positions we need more that Suarez and Sturridge to chip in with a decent amount of goals.

The defensive part of Henderson's game has come on leaps and bounds. His pressing and positional awareness is first class. He has always had high work rate and energy but now it is being used in a more beneficial way. I think he does need to work on his composure in front of goal though.
