I've always been a big fan of him and stuck up for him, he's pissed me off with the last few weeks. Im sure he's gutted

So it's nearly official then. My hot take is i'm glad, he's gone... i take no satisfaction in watching players playing past their peak (for us anyway).
He's had a remarkable career with us, considering he was played out of position many times, always a Gerrard neverman which was super unfair, and resisted being sold to Fulham (who can blame him). Definietly a major part of recent success and when he was on form he was great.
Highlight was probably giving it back to costa

It'll buy him wealth that 5 years ago would've only been available to Messi and Ronaldo. Sportspeople are surrounded their whole career by advisors trying to get the best deal for them, and milking their career for all they can. It's pretty ingrained in to themOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostMadness. All very strange for a (successful) Liverpool captain to reach the end like this.
Good luck to him, I expect he knew he was only appreciated by half the fanbase. Sunderland fan lives next door to me and he's adored by their lot.Last edited by Norbs; 26-07-23, 04:56 PM.

We just need the emotional tweet to be sent from his account whilst he's still on the training field to complete this sorry saga

It’s mad the club hasn’t announced it…….Farewell videos filmed and the making of it leaked, training with new club leaked….. we’re normally on point with stuff like thisOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostMadness. All very strange for a (successful) Liverpool captain to reach the end like this.

Corporate profits? What's the connection?Originally posted by Fosterbloke View PostI'm assuming you'll have no issue when corporate profits hit record levels again because there is a huge difference between last year's and this year's numbers and what it means to shareholders and C-Level executive bonuses..
Greed is greed.
I would view it entirely differently if he was moving to Real Madrid or Blovdiv Plovdiv for that wage but no, he's tossing aside something he's passionate about for the shiny lucre.

From a footballer's overly simple point of view, the Saudi league is a sort of retirement home - a bit like the league in the U S. Of course, if the top teams buy enough quality players, it'll become more like the French, Spanish or German leagues - competitions dominated by the few teams that have good players in all positions.

I personally don’t agree with how Saudi Arabian society works and if someone is fine with going there for a lot of money fine, I’ll judge that but it isn’t surprising in the slightest.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostI think the levels of sanctimony with regards to the LGBTQ issue and Henderson are off the scale.
As mentioned he is a footballer, a good leader yes, but he’s never come across as a particularly deep thinker. He has been behind a lot of decent initiatives, and this move is a black mark against one of them. But if he moves or doesn’t, it makes no real change.
What rankles more is all this bull**** about him needing to secure his family and it being a short career as a footballer. The numbers vs not just the average uk income but even a very good income just don’t stack up. He doesn’t need to earn that money for any other reason than he wants to and can.

can’t have been planned otherwise he’d have been part of the full on media coverage received by Milner, Bobby and even Ox to an extent.
