I never got the Henderson - Gerrard comparison. 10 years ago, Gerrard was clearly one of our best players and could tackle, score, dribble and create. While Henderson might become a decent player, right now all he really does is pass.

Dont get me wrong I dont think he will be as effective a wide player as Houghton but I can see some similarities in how they play

In Matt's defence he's not been optimistic because we haven't had much to be optimistic about. He just wants us to be the best and obviously sees that we're nowhere near that with some of the personnel we have.
I know we've won something and I'm very happy and I'm sure Matt is too but we MUST do better and this is probably why he's feeling the way he does, I feel like that too.
If I genuinely thought we were a force and were challenging then I'd be a lot more optimistic but I'm not. Then again how do you definie optimism?
