It's easy to forget but Lucas wasn't a regular in his first season. He started 12 games. In his 2nd season he only started 13, then in his 3rd season he started 32.
I know what you mean about Henderson benefiting in the long run from all this exposure - he surely will - but I'd sooner see him eased into the long-term picture and him be a squad player for a couple of seasons. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He has the attributes to do everything, including great crosses. However, hes' usually as guilty of hitting the first man from crosses as everyone else in our team and this is where he needs to apply some extra-curricular focus which will see him excel. Some confidence in his own abilities will help immensely too.One tit for another.

That I agree with. He has great vision when crossing the ball. He could do with translating that into killer passes, passing into angles which will help us create more space a result.Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostJust on his final ball, I think henderson is an awesome crosser of the ball. He is really accurate and knows how to place the ball in that zone between defence and keeper which is nearly impossible to defend.
No one in the squad seems to do that. It's all very direct without any creative spark. Henderson I feel is the best player to do that..

Agreed, Gerrardesque. Can defo see why Sunderland supporters were saying thats one of his best attributes and why he's been played on the right so much at both clubs. Thought he was brilliant in that first half.Originally posted by Fernandinho View PostJust on his final ball, I think henderson is an awesome crosser of the ball. I can't see any resemblance whatsoever between a young Hendo and a young Gerrard. Two completely different players!
Gerrard was full of aggression, loved a tackle, could pass short and tidy but also long raking balls. Gerrards was renowned for his drive and buccaneering style. Also his shooting & powerful strike of a ball was one a his major weapons aswell.
Henderson is neat and tidy, occasionally he'll stretch out the legs but for the most part he'll just hustle/harry players & close down the space, but without making an actual challenge. Hendersons crossing has been ok, often not beating the first man (similar to Downing) his shooting is non existent. Henderson is so timid in comparison to Gerrard, couldn't haven't picked such a contrast by comparing the two.
IMO the only real comparisons is they have good engines. Whether or not Henderson will become good as a CM for LFC (as he is definitely not a RM) time will tell. I really hope he does but i do have my doubts although playing him at RM is doing him and us no favours whatsoever. For me is not ready to be a regular starter for LFC & only injuries to key players have allowed him so much game time. Anyways IMO comparing him to Gerrard is a very strange and rather optimistic comparison to say the least.

Kenny's faith in him is quite incredible. The guy is untouchable, yet looks nothing like it.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHenderson has started our last 19 games.
I quite like him and he will be a good player for us, but IMO it speaks volumes that he's become such a regular. At this stage of his career, it would be ideal for him and us if he was a sub/back-up more often than not.
He'll come good eventually, but it will take time.

It's not a knock against Henderson but he's nothing like a young Gerrard.
